What rock music are you listening to? Non-Jazz, Non-Classical.

Many many real fans have been trading tapes and cdrs and files for a long time, and I know a number who don't buy the official releases because they have had trading copies for a long time. These persons are not necessarily in the poorhouse, though tapes and blanks and postage for a long time before sharing files online became de rigger probably put a dent in a number of wallets! I was a casual fan for a while though the three times I saw the Dead in the 'seventies were eye-opening and fanned flames that burst into conflagration for me in the 'nineties when I explored the Dead a lot. I have all the official releases now of material from the beginning to the departure of Keith and Donna. . . I just don't listen to material after that, doesn't capture me the way the material before that has. I'm a Pigpen fan, and I love my Europe '72 box. That's such wonderfully performed and well-recorded and -presented music. -

Some newly purchased Japanese RVG LP Facsimile Blue Note cds have arrived and am enjoying spinning them. So far: Lee Morgan "Charisma" Stanley Turrentine "Up at Minton's Vol. 1" "Vol. 2"

Over the last few days: Bob Dylan "John Wesley Harding," Mobile Fidelity Lab stereo SACD--I appreciate this album more and more as time passes. Bobby Hutcherson "Happenings" Blute Note Japan RVG LP facsimile cd Jack Wilson "Easterly Winds" Blute Note Japan RVG LP facsimile cd. Nice session, a sextet with a difference in arranging and piano style. Woody Shaw "Live in Bremen 1983" a nice quartet date with great sound. Hermeto Pascoal & Grupo "No Mundo dos Sons" HIGH energy quirky funkiness. "Miles Davis in Europe" (the version from the Complete Columbia Albums box set)--This is just a set for the ages, drama, innovation, drive! I love "I Thought about You" here.

The Armstrong RCA and Columbia Studio Mosaic set is in process. From Ricky Ricardi's Facebook page (there's a picture there, but too big to upload here): I’ve done some cool shit in my day....but sitting here holding the master tapes to “Louis Armstrong Plays W. C. Handy” before transferring them ranks near the top of the list. (In my left hand is “St. Louis Blues,” the track that legitimately changed my life in 1995....overwhelming feeling....)

Well, they had me at "Plangent Process." This process has really made recordings sound great from Grateful Dead, and improved the sound on Garner's "Complete Concert by the Sea." I am figuring these will be noticeably better sounding. https://www.plangentprocesses.com
