  1. "The Complete Wolverines 1924-1928"
  2. I didn't know that about Bossa Nova USA. That was a record in my parents' LP collection (I have it now, and on CD) and I love it. Anything Goes is also very good imo.
  3. I honestly feel that Miles made musical excuses to stand in for his real, more personal, extra-musical reasons and feelings. In this case I think it may have been that Hank was using, and Miles may have had a hard time with that, or felt very superior as he had kicked that can down the road.

  7. "Just" is not quite accurate as it came out in '15, but Sony has been good about keeping items in print and it's still available . . . in stereo.

  11. I like this series of historical "mysteries" set in the reign of (female) Pharaoh Hatshepsut.

  14. A very relaxed date in good sound, David. (Extra material is in less good sound. . . but that's extra stuff). I was in the mood for more long tall Dexter, so I'm listening to "Live at Carnegie Hall" from Dexter Gordon "Complete Columbia Albums" box set.
  15. Dexter Gordon "At the Subway Club" Elemental Music cd, disc 1
  16. Cannonball Adderley "Cannonball's Bossa Nova" Riverside OJC cd.
  17. Miles Davis "Bitches Brew" recent Sony SACD (Stereo layer, not Quad layer). Disc 2
  18. "Big Blue" -- the Bob Dylan "Bootleg Series Vol.12: The Cutting Edge" Collector's edition, Disc 9. ". . .the sun's not yellow. . . it's chicken."
  19. Had to listen to another Wilen after last night's SACD. Barney Wilen with the Mal Waldron Trio "Movie Themes from France" Followed by Milt Jackson "At the Museum of Modern Art"
  20. The wonderful SACD version of Barney Wilen "Le Ca: New York Romance." His partner Marie Moor is on the cover.
  21. I never said it was either of those but it sure looks like the Club St. Germain. I think it likely this group played there as well as the larger Olympia that trip.
  22. My guess is Paris 1959. They were there for more than one show. Here's a contemporaneous album: https://www.discogs.com/Art-Blakey-Bud-Powell-Barney-Wilen-And-The-Jazz-Messengers-Paris-Jam-Session/release/6033231
