CD is not released yet, three weeks away.

Cool. No telling how much of the text and photos will make it to the cd edition. I don't generally buy new vinyl either, but this was a special occasion for me, and when I saw the opportunity to get it for the original uninflected price with no shipping I took it. Glad to have it.

Another fantastic sounding gold cd from Classic Records. My Dad has rekindled my interest in Ella, this year he has been going through his Ella collection and spurring me on to do the same.

I have been told that there are a number of former Mosaics of EMI owned material available as downloads with titles that include "from the Capitol Vault" or similar wording. I don't do downloads myself, but they should be easy to find on iTunes etc. . . .

I'm actually listening to this album via the differently sequenced material on the Mosaic set, disc 6. I've let this set sit on a shelf a long time, time to revisit it. Not a big Billy May fan, and I enjoy little doses of Anita, not disc after disc. I may listen to this over the coming week one disc or part of a disc at a time. Absence hasn't exactly made the heart fonder of this material, but it is a nice change of pace from what I've been listening to the last week and the mastering (by Malcolm Addey) is quite good.

Time overdue for some Dexter!

Sound is stereo, and well-balanced. To be honest I think this is the best recording I've ever heard from the Nola space. There is some discussion of the film and a few photos. There is an overview of Monk's visits to France in the 'fifties. There are more pages of photos (full pages too) than text, but it's a very nice booklet.

I have a number of versions too. Two early pressings, one mono, one stereo. The late eighties LP and CD reissue. A gray market "Complete" cd and the Impex Records gold CD. Probably will be more in the future! I love it that much.

Elgin, glad you got it. Some excellent music in there, I especially like the California sides. And what a booklet! Really enjoyed learning about Dean and his life.
