  1. Another great sounding lp
  2. Love the sound on this one. Columbia Special Products pressing.
  3. Argh! A great drummer! R I P Joe!
  4. I had to get a replacement sent to me. . . even though I ordered it to my new address they sent my Johnson set to my old address that I moved from in July, and no one there indicated that it was received. . . . Should have a set soon.
  5. A little easy listening. . .but JACK.
  6. Alternating between Gotham Season 1 on Blu-ray and some X-Files episodes from Seasons 2 and 3 on Blu-ray. (The latter look really good!)
  7. 1956 Capitol LP Man, this is one of my favorite Jack Ts. . .both music and sound are killer!
  8. For me there's no easing into her music, it hits me head on and I don't like all that I've heard, but I really do like a lot of it. She was a moving, driven artist.
  9. My Dad has several hundred great classical LPs (I'm enjoying classical music more and more) and a few dozen Ella Fitzgerald and a few other jazz artists' LPs. And almost all in excellent condition. Most of all these he now has on CD and with him, I've got the LPs.
  10. That's too bad. I really enjoy my Dad's record collection.
  11. I was lucky in that when I grew up in the 'fifties and 'sixties my Dad had an AR turntable (and Dynaco system) given to him by a parishioner of his who was transferred to England and decided not to take his stereo with him. Never had a changer, never got to stack records. And when I got systems I never bought a changer either. So his records (which I now have) and mine from when I first bought records near the end of the 'sixties are in really good shape, luckily. But yeah, many got trashed on those changers.
  12. Now playing the disc with Evans.
  13. Ha, we have very good imaginations! Yes, 'sixties as well. . . but some of the 'fifties just bowl me over. I played Condon's Bixieland a bit ago and was bowled over!
  14. Great heavy vinyl original copy I plucked off amazon for less than 6 dollars total. . . just a bit of crackle. Listening to the Condon side. Don't have to tell anyone here how great these fifties Columbia records sound.
  15. Jimmy Knepper, Bethlehem reissue LP
  16. I'm with you sidewinder. It's not all "harmonic distortion" either. I have a great digital front end or two, but there's something from vinyl playback that enthralls me in a different way. I'm really enjoying vinyl playback these days after a turntable revamp. And I've learned how important a phono preamp is.
  17. Just an informational note, Sony Japan recently released budget reissues of the two RCA titles. I like this material. In critical mode later Bud is a roller coaster up and down thing, but in general I listen to it without prejudice . . .it's Bud. . .I love his musical mind and heart.
