  1. Yes, got a great price (less than what Mosaic originally charged) for what is probably not played volumes, and the seller was ten minutes away so no shipping! Still reeling from my good luck.
  2. It's not a perfect article. I seem to have enjoyed it more than you.
  3. Interesting article including biographical details about Fletcher Henderson. http://www.oxfordamerican.org/magazine/item/730-sugarfoot-stomp
  4. All three volumes of the Commodore Records box sets on Mosaic.
  5. I don't disagree, Tony's final years the playing was different and not as interesting. But if he only had the first ten years or so of his career it would have been history making.
  6. Indeed.
  7. According to this article Ornette taught himself trumpet and violin during the first three or four years of the 'sixties. https://tshaonline.org/handbook/online/articles/fcobr And according to this one it was '63 and '64. http://www.versobooks.com/blogs/2034-ornette-coleman-barry-witherden-s-the-wire-primer
  8. I enjoy Shepp here. Another window into the material, another way that didn't pan out entirely, but this is a nice departure. Shepp had such a strong presence and drive at the time. Wasn't long before Trane found the strong presence and drive that really did work for him, Pharoah Sanders. So glad this new version is out, I like the whole package.
  9. I dig it too.
  10. Got a little money for Xmas today and decided to get some things on LP I have only on CD right now. . . www.dustygroove.com got a visit; prices were great. I love Jarrett on LP, especially since I added the Groovetracer Reference sub-platter and delrin platter to the RP3, it is really stable speed-wise now. And my copy of Santana III needs to go away, really worn. 11. Not sure, but they do get to listen to Kevin.
  12. Last day for the Amazon Italia sale https://www.amazon.it/musica/b/ref=gbps_img_s-5_0207_f361a05a?ie=UTF8&node=6116651031&smid=A11IL2PNWYJU7H&pf_rd_p=765730207&pf_rd_s=slot-5&pf_rd_t=701&pf_rd_i=gb_main&pf_rd_m=A11IL2PNWYJU7H&pf_rd_r=02S2C2JCJM2MJ8VS8VB1&tag=shtv.it-21
  13. If so we can start a new club because I've been enjoying it too.
  14. Duke Ellington "Warm Valley"
  15. Mike, amazon.com has snippets of each tune as samples on pages for each separate earlier cd editions. I much prefer earlier Wiley material, but these are good albums.
  16. Yes, that was good. Makes me wish for more. . . not sure there ever will be.
  17. SyFy's "Childhood's End." Just alright.
  18. I found it hard to believe he was gone when he passed. He was such a force within my musical world, he and Kenny Clarke inspired me to take up the drums. Far too young. I lost my wife at 52, far too young. Life is fleeting and we should enjoy every minute.
  19. Word. And Miles knew how to "steal" talent. What if Miles hadn't hired Tony. . . .
  20. Just got this email from Scott Wenzel: We wanted to update everyone regarding the release date. The James P. Johnson CD set is expected to ship by early January and the Gerry Mulligan LP set is expected late January/February. We did plan on having an earlier release date and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Johnson CD set is expected to ship by early January and the Gerry Mulligan LP set is expected late January/February. 22. Okay, thanks. I'll be patient.
  23. Crap. I was hoping Homeland would be awful this season as I don't have that network any longer. I'll have to wait for the discs to come out later next year. I was a little disappointed in last season. I'm now watching the second half of the final season of Mad Men on blu-ray.
  24. More speculative history intertwined with archaeological reporting. Fascinating.
  25. Fargo, Season 2, finale. A bit anti-climatic but cool.
