  1. My new Decware ZP3 phono preamp arrived and I'm thrilled at the great sound even out of the box. . . . Played Followed now by
  2. What an amazing musician Albert was. Great post and thread ep1strophy. The Revenant box was such a huge boon to Ayler fans. Even though I had much of it there were exciting portions I had not heard before. I really like the material with Samson. Lately I've revisited "Live on the Riviera" which hadn't really touched me before, and I'm really enjoying this final period of Ayler, and thinking about what that may have developed into.
  3. I think with the cover they're going for a "bootleg" look and succeding.
  4. Adrian, it's the latter, these are all recordings that were released or authorized by either the Jazz Workshop label that Charles started and sort of put Sue in charge of, or by a production sort of set-up Sue later started called East Coasting. For the most part Sue had these source tapes in hand it seems, which is not the case I bet with the other European recordings. I'm not sure about the legal claim that Sue may have of the other recordings from this European tour. I would imagine that she has a clear claim and it's possible that we'll see more released "officially" in the future. We can hope.
  5. Okay, thanks John. I don't care about numbering other than an indicator of how many units sold, now we don't have that info from the numbering. I do see more initial comments online about this set than a few other recent sets and I have a feeling it got quite a lot of pre-orders. Just a feeling though. Still would love to see more 1964 Mingus from Mosaic.
  6. The Amsterdam material sounds better than the French cds I have of this concert, and I'm confident that everything here sounds just as good as it could in Redbook. I think any Mingus nut would just revel in this set.
  7. Listening to the new Mingus set (which I think is or will be one of the fast-selling sets*) makes me wish for a set with more of the European 1964 concerts with audio attention by Malcolm Addey. I'm not sure what would be involved in getting these into a set via Sue Mingus, but I'd love love to see them. *I say this because I pre-ordered the first day you could online and received set #849.
  8. And Ms. Mabry/Mrs. Davis always was a beautiful woman.
  9. I like the colors ok, but...that photo is from, when, 1959? That cover is not from 1959,

  11. Indeed. I find over a half a dozen unissued sessions that may be really interested in this discography: http://www.scribd.com/doc/94651753/Lee-Konitz-Discography
  12. Intersting. Thanks Hans.
  13. Great price. In the USA I'd worry that the DVD would not be compatible however.
  14. I pre-ordered yesterday. Going to be an amazing release I believe.
  15. Sold to Jeff. Thanks!
  16. Thanks for releasing the Fisher. I think the remastering is amazing on that release, let alone the music. I'm betting you sell each and every one.
  17. Somehow I managed to order this DVD set as well as the Blu-ray version, and only need the Blu-ray. Sealed DVD set, Season 5, 22 dollars including postage within the continental USA. IF interested, please email lonjazz@yahoo.com
  18. Got mine today. The sound on the Town Hall Concert surprised me; the arco bass just sounds amazing. No Mingus fan will be disappointed with this set. Mine is #849. I pre-ordered the minute I could.
  19. This two lp set just sounds phenomenal. (And I love the music). I have the material on French CBS cds, but they just will never sound this great.
  20. Thanks Brooks. More importantly, they sound great!
  21. '87 or '88 was when I first started buying cds and my first player (a Pioneer, didn't sound that great). I started with Miles Davis cds and then moved on to Blue Note, it amazed me that there were all these Blue Note cds coming out of material I had heard or read about but never was able to get into a player. Now it's full circle for me, I have an awesome digital playback system and I'm falling in love with lps again.
