  11. Apparently not, though source isn't directly named it's reported here by Hans that they're not remastered.
  12. I have a mono switch on my preamp now as well as on my phono preamp. Doubly lucky!
  13. If they say they'll play SACDs, they mean they will play the SACD layer. Look for the SACD logo on the packaging or as a decal/sticker on the machine itself. Most if not all of the latest Sony Blu-ray players will play SACD discs. If you don't yet have a Blu-ray player, that's a recommended route because BLU-RAY IS GREAT. I'm not sure what a "reasonably priced" model really is. If you're willing to buy a music only machine that will last and deliver excellent sound, I'd recommend the Sony SCD-XA5400ES which is supposedly back in production again, or the Denon DCD-A100(a 100th anniversary flagship player that is built like a tank; no longer in production, but may be found in closeout prices). I've had both of these (have the Denon now, which I prefer). These players are 1000 or more in cost though.
  14. These have been around on Storyville for a long time, with good reason, they're both great sessions. Some of this stuff I think sounds better in the Storyville Duke box set.
  15. I don't think that adds up, Ubu. Hip-o Select hasn't released a jazz boxed set since the Wes Montgomery one, almost a year ago, so it's getting less active if anything. The Chick Webb set under discussion is Universal material, which suggests Mosaic is still getting that material. And the Granz Jam Sessions set came out years before Hip-o Select was conceived. But a Hip-o/Mosaic merger could indeed be fine. With Cuscuna in control, the mastering would probably be more Mosaic-inclined, while we would get more compact/attractive packaging. I don't ever think we'll see Cuscuna supervising Hip-O Select products. Hip-O Select plugs along. Don't forget the final Coltrane box set. Coming soon is a two cd Symphony Hall Concert set. And I bet more are planned.
  16. Many many happy returns!
  17. Another year? Many happy returns!
  18. A Muggsy Spanier Memorial featuring Pee Wee Russell
  19. I looked at two of them. The mastering engineers were Wally Traugott and Ted Jensen. Edited to correct spelling thanks to critical Hans.
  20. It wasn't Bruce Lundval.
