  1. I hate House. Yes, Laurie is brilliant and he inhabits the role, but I find nothing compelling or redeeming about the character, and I don't understand why it's so popular. Give me Ben Casey any day (I own the complete run as bootlegs--it's never been officially released on DVD). There are many very funny bits in the series A Bit of Fry and Laurie. I hated House for the longest time. But when it dawned on me that it was really Sherlock Holmes in disguise, I found that pretty amusing and it helped me get into it. It's not one of my favorite shows, but the last few seasons were entertaining (I especially liked the penultimate season with Amber Tamblyn.)
  2. I don't doubt that. I don't know what table you're using, but I've had two people tell me it robs the Rega RP3 of dynamics. . . and I have a Rega RP3 and love the dynamics. So I'm leary.
  3. Just wanted to say that Pete is an excellent seller and don't hesitate to purchase from him.
  4. I love Herbie's Audio Lab isolation products. Haven't tried the Mat because several Rega owners tell me that it robs the sound of dynamics, which is not what people say about the Mat on other tables. Anyway, I love the way my Rega sounds and have stuck with the stock mat. May get some sort of anti-static product in time however.
  5. I can agree that there's more meat to the bone, but the whole casino setting etc. doesn't appeal to me as much as it seems to others. I liked the grittiness of Solace. Anyway, those are the two films to check out GA!
  6. I actually prefer Quantum of Solace to Casino Royale, Eva Greene didn't do as much for me as she seems to do for others, but Olga Kulyenko, wow. These latest two Bond films are the only ones I've ever really liked, most like the novels.
  7. Happy Birthday! Many happy returns!
  8. I'm with Matthew. Plus there's Paul, and half the writings attributed to him but no likely written by him. Anyway, I've read two fascinating books about Paul this year that have really made me think. And I pay no higher compliment to a book or an author.

  10. I'm a believer in high quality audio playback, and I have a lot of fun with audio. I'd only have the highest end stuff if i won the Lottery, but if I did, I would! I've spent about as much on my system as some would on a nice used luxury car. . . I don't own a car, so factor that in. Audio purchases are where my beer and cigarette money used to go as well. I have a great collection and I enjoy having a very nice and flexible system to play my recordings back on and also view and hear TV and films. And I won't apologize for it.
  11. Many many happy returns Mark!

  13. I sortof agree about Mann, but I have to say I think all his Joseph in Egypt novels are fascinating and among my favorite novels.
  14. Savored this one slowly and just finished it. Amazing book. Caused much thinking on my part. Not sure what to start next.
  15. I ordered from amazon.fr
  16. Spinning this again today. Love the sound!
  17. Exciting news!
  18. We'll see what happens. Their track record has been pretty good so far on these sets. Duke presents more of a problem. . .
  19. In general with these box sets, extra material on previously released cds have been included. So my guess is that they will incorporate studio bonus cuts as well. Like Chuck I'm interested to see if they include studio material that had masqueraded as live on the original releases. I'll give them big kudos if they do.
  20. Thanks Stuart!
  21. No problem Cary, thanks!
  22. Bruce, Flurin, Marcel, Thanks. It was okay. I really don't celebrate my birthday, and I've been missing my family a lot lately (probably due to postponing a trip to visit I'd be starting about now due to events here) but it was a nice day and I played some great music, and had some great food with friends.
  23. Bright, Good, You're just early for the next one! Thanks!
