  1. Last night's two hours of Nova, about the possibilities of life in other parts of our solar system and universe. Amazing photography and graphics, video demonstration quality stuff. I'm just amazed at the picture, and have learned a lot, a LOT.
  2. I really enjoyed Horrible Bosses in the theater, and it was fun to see it with a responsive crowd.

I know what you mean. This could be the most viable future of jazz reissues. GRRR.

Reading what few customer reviews I could find of their sets they seem to be generally greeted favorably, though there are those who complain that some are bad sounding, even worse than decent needle drops. Likely, you get what you pay for, and that's that.

Well, I paid that much for just one of the eight! (I have all eight). Great music.
  7. That's about what the other sets went for on first release I believe.
  8. As far as I can tell from those I have, these all seem to be new masterings, so my guess is that it would be "new". . . which hopefully would be the original version. I'm not going to rebuy this one though for a few seconds.
  9. Well, most of the Coltrane and Kirk and Blakey I believe are available on cd, perhaps several of the others as well. I have a video of the Monk and it's KILLER. I'm happy about this, I will get this set before it goes away. I really can enjoy the "better than cd sound" of DVD on my system. I've never seen the Blakey and Griffin and Hubbard.

  11. I hear ya. Though it's an important component for him.
  12. My guess: Because it too is eagerly anticipated.
  13. I believe this is what Allen is referring to: http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=8583442
  14. Yes, even if you have (as I do) the Montreux box the DVD box looks like a good set to target. It would be interesting to see many of these concerts, and the DVD sound could be superior.
  15. My late wife's father has been going to AA nearly forty years. He goes over three times a week, sponsors members, sets up and cleans up after meetings, truly devoted to the "service" aspect of it, and a real believer in the benefits. A wonderful man.
  16. I have 7 and they sound good. a bit "loud," but not harsh or thin.
  17. Like the Prestige, love the Blue Note.
  18. MANY happy returns my friend!
  19. Right. I have the Japanese cd reisssue, and it is not there.
  20. I believe Huntington Ashram Monastery has only been on cd from Japan before this new two-fer? Anyway, I agree with your assessment though I must say that i LOVE the orchestrated works. And one cassette release I have that is religious chanting based as well.
  21. Re: Alice: go for ones not in this series first. Her Verve release, or Her Warner's discs, or the earlier Impulses that are out on earlier cds. THEN go for these if you are pleased. Just my two cents---I love all Alice.
  22. What you're still having birthdays? Have a great one!
  23. They're also available around the net with the back panels as well. I just have three more shows to listen to and I'll be all the way through the set once. Amazing mastering and music.
  24. Hope it's a great day, and many happy returns!
