I've met several Texas Supreme Court Justices. But I don't know my "local judge."

Here's my opinion: if these had been done as acoustic jazz sessions, I think they would have been amazing. There's some great writing here. I just can't get past the "sound" of the album and the production with synthesizers and a very dated sonic presentation. Every now and then I try again. Just can't listen to a whole disc. That may be just me. I would imagine these new masterings will sound better, but it's not the mastering that's the problem for me.

Interesting. There's that lost one from California that gets talked about, that would be an amazing release. Paul Tingen says that he's been shown that the next one will be "electric" on his blog.

I REALLY doubt it as that is an official release, and has been available through Dragon and DIW for a LOOOOOOOONG time. I agree but I don't think that will happen from Columbia unless it's in a series of these volumes of "bootlegs." I can't imagine them putting out a "complete box." I'd love it, but I can't imagine it.

Plus another 1, HP. I've certainly been guilty of this, and will reign myself in. In fact, there are members of many other boards here in this community.

I'm hoping for DVD inclusion as well. The audio is actually better, more resolution, that's one reason. And I too like to watch the performances. One can always turn the monitor off and listen to the audio (I confess I do that a lot!) I think adding the DVD increases it's attraction for many.

That would be great. I didn't know about that video. Combine this with the Antibes '69 performances (both) and maybe one or two of the other "Lost Quintet" European concerts---dynamite Volume.

I think even Sony/Columbia must consider the recent "Miles Davis Bootleg Vol. 1" a success. I think it's the most promising jazz reissue in some time, because it could be an excellent beginning to a really beneficial series for the fan and collector. If anyone has any inside information or insight into what will be next in the series, please share. And here's a good place to list hoped-for future issues. And let's have fun and guess what may be next. I have no insight or information about upcoming volumes--or even a confirmation that this WILL BE a continuing series. Assuming (hoping!) that there will be forthcoming volumes, my guess is that the next will be a collection of 1973 European recordings. As it seems possible future volumes may be planned to include DVD concerts, and there are several televised appearances from this tour that could be cleaned up and made available, just as we had in the first volume. And there are a number of good recordings of the concerts that could be remastered and made available improving the versions that collectors may have. Seems tailor-made for a second volume, moving into another decade, offering significant benefit for 'lectric Miles collectors and also significant quality sonic potential and potential visual interest to perhaps attract a new fan and collector or three. But the great thing about this series is I'm liable to look forward to any band or timeframe they choose. Anyone else have any info, guesses, wishes?

I like the choice of cello on this recording. Allows for a more flexible tonal palette for the music than just a bass would. And this is well taken advantage of! The blues colors of this session make it very accessible and also helps to give it a more focused emotional expression.

I like it. More traditional than A New Perspective, a different album, by design. It's not great, but it does stand up to some repeat listens. When you're in the mood, it works.

In my opinion John there's nothing false about Jim's "street-wise" talk if you want to categorize it as such. A man who has spent more than two decades being a musician as his only employment, and has been a participant and co-producer of several cds, had his liner notes published. . . yeah, that's street cred in the music world to me. And I've been in the same room with him several times, and exchanged more words with him outside this board than on it, and I'll attest to his, what I consider, myself, brilliance. Just had to say it because the personal attacks are getting heavy and in this case unfounded.
