  1. Congrats! I know you'll be using them and smiling!
  2. Hope it was a great one! Many more!
  3. You mean they still write science fiction? Thanks for those recommending here. One day I might start investigating some contemporary science fiction. I sort of stopped reading new science fiction when John Varley was writing at his best. I re-read Philip K. Dick and Cordwainer Smith, that's the SCHITTE for me. Just such amazing ideas and writing. Oh, I guess the most contemporary science fiction I'm familiar with are the films of Richard Kelly.
  4. Thanks for the link Quincy! Not essential stuff, but interesting. (I really LOVE PT from say Signify on, "like" the stuff before, but don't listen to it with the same zest.)
  5. Esperanza Spalding on Austin City Limits. Not entirely sold on her bass playing or singing, but she sure is a lovely lady.
  6. I don't think we're going to see those Wayne and Jackie sessions. I wouldn't be surprised if the masters don't exist any longer. It's a good thing if these Mosaic sets have a digital file counterpart and stay sort of in print. Not my first choice (to download, I don't do that often) but there's always a point were "beggars can't be choosers."
  7. I'm solidly with Allen. It must always and continuously be with chick peas.
  8. Interesting. . .
  9. Mingus Ah Um. Amazing bass solos throughout.
  10. Well, I don't know what happened here, it seems as if they didn't print enough on the first run as they sent out a lot of pre-orders, and the sets are now "coming soon" in the same stores that just shipped quantities. I think before long there will be tons available. So far I really love the Russell box. . . wasn't too familiar with these, had heard just a few titles. I think the remastering in these sets really stands out. . . in a great way.
  11. I already have all those!
  12. Got my sets yesterday. These sound just amazing, as great a remastering job as the last batch.
  13. Bruce! Great news! Welcome back!
  14. I know what you mean. In this series, there's enough of Arvin Sloan, Jack Bristow, Irina Derevko, Anna Esposito. etc. for me to really enjoy the series.
  15. Possibly the best show this season, in my estimation. I wonder if Roger is going to live out the season? It seems as if they're setting us up for an incident. . . . My secret hope is that Don will can that lazy Art Director, and Sal will reappear. Don is getting sloppy.
  16. I'm a Teagarden nut like Greg so I say it's a great set. I'm a big fan of Jack's vocals as well. . . there are a lot of vocals in this set, but they're great as far as I'm concerned. . . . MellowT, I hesitated for a while on the Montgomery set partly because I had so many of the single releases. . . I eventually a few years ago found it less than one hundred and got it, and am happy I did. Keep your eyes peeled, you probably won't have to pay 150 plus. . . .
  17. Good stuff. BBC Sessions has been out for some time as a two cd set from the Family. . . but this looks as if it will be a "reissue" that offers a little bit extra worth having.
  18. No, this is yet another bootleg. I've heard most of these shows. Most sound okay in circulating copies. (Another's idea of "okay" may not be mine, however). Legacy is reissuing more "new versions" of the catalog titles in October: http://www.jimihendrix.com/us/news/experience-hendrix-llc-legacy-recordings-launching-second-wave-monumental-jimi-hendrix-catalog-
  19. I'll echo that Allan, the place is poorer without you. Welcome back my friend!
  20. I'll wager you'll enjoy it once it reels you in. These were a great series of books to read. . . real and grim and with their own pace and "lighting."
  21. I wish I could play half the guitar that Clapton does. I'd be busy every night. I'll reserve judgment on this one, but I really do admire Clapton and his work. . . .Like Bev, the production on many albums is very off-putting, but there's gold to mine. I'd like to see Clapton do a cover album of T-Bone Walker material, I'd buy that, I bet it would be something else.
  22. Many many happy returns Joe!
