  1. Just had a mug of coffee grown organically in Mexico and roasted here in Austin (with real cream) and two egg, potato and salsa breakfast tacos. Perfect breakfast for today!
  2. Finally (assuming this all pans out) a "Road Trips" unquestionably great to buy: Summer '71 soundboards not known before: http://www.glidemagazine.com/hiddentrack/g...n-the-way/#more
  3. Meyers's White Rum, Blue Sky Natural Cola
  4. Many many happy returns.
  5. I had a huge lunch whihch was really breakfast ("The Kerby Lane Special"--two eggs, slice of ham, two huge whole wheat and apple pancakes) and so just had some blue corn chips and artichoke-spinach hummus for "dinner." And a big bottle of mineral water. It's hot here!
  6. Here Al, you can do the typing if you want to: http://www.concordmusicgroup.com/search/?S...SC&offset=0
  7. That and the fact that the general consensus is that the Prestige K2's absolutely smoke the RVG's. Personally, I'm not a blanket fan of the K2s. I prefer RVGs I've compared, and even newer nonK2 remasterings. It's all so subjective.
  8. Maybe there are new listeners enough to support these being released in new versions. . . they would want NEW versions rather than old ones, and the added bonus is the occasional jazz veteran dweeb who will rebuy for an extra track or the new remastering. . . (Hey I'm the perfect jazz dweeb so I'm throwing the stone). Also, consider this: the retainlers will autiomatically order the new release. . . they won't ordinarily automatically reorder the OLD cd version. This could be a way for Concord to get orders from distribution (?) And there's likely the thought that a title that sold before will sell again (the flip side to Cuscuna's belief that if it didn't sell before it won't sell now).
  9. Many many more happy ones!
  10. The Lateef is a great one. I confess I bought it because I wanted the tracks not previously on cd that I only had on lp before. I love this music, it's some of my all-time favorite jazz. Now I would love love love to have this material not yet on cd otherwise from the US holder, but. . . I just don't see it happening. I'll buy it if it does. This music deserves to be in print in the US. I've been emailing about this set with JET. He likes the packaging and presentation a bit more than I do, but we both agree the sound is great.
  11. Oh totally, I feel that way, differing tastes, I encounter that all the time. I have had the original Head On a long time, which may be a reason, it may seem a bit dated now, it didn't when I first started hearing it. And it's nice to have it without certain lp effects!
  12. Yes, no kidding, as soon as they started talking about Brentham I thought about Locke.
  13. Well, I guess I'm alone in watching Lost! I am not sure it is the fault of the writer's strike, maybe, but this season was the worst so far for me. The creative team kept taking this in a direction that I didn't really care for with increasing violence and bleak situations.
  14. Shouldn't that have been "Shawn's Chuck showing was."
  15. I guessed correctly, when it was first shown last year, who was in the coffin at the service that only Jack Shepherd showed up for. And my little group of Lost watchers thought I was mad, mad, mad!
  16. gee, I'd love it! There could be a whole series of boxes... studio and live, big band and small bands, and some bonus DVDs on top of that! There were some 2CD releases (three I think?), one of which I could have a look at when at brownie's last fall, but other than that it's just the stray disc - great to hear that Rearward is going to release more (though it's a drag that there's so much overlap with their own earlier compilations). Here's my prediction: it ain't going to happen, ever. What I'd like to see: Mosaic seek out and assemble a set of radio broadcast material of the band(s). I predict that would never happen too, but that's the stuff I need.
  17. There's an AAJ article about the commissioned work and the performance. I found it interesting that Akhenaten was described as the Egyptian king that changed Egyptian culture and religion forever, which certainly is NOT true. It's on eMusic; I'll download it soon.
  18. Thanks for the info! I may look into it.
  19. No, haven't heard it. Any connection besides title to the heretic Pharaoh?
  20. All this because she was trying to hide a hickey from her husband!
  21. That's fine Thom, it just seems so strange because TO ME because I find him far from boring. But if 'tis so to you, 'tis so!
  22. I have to agree, I like the sound of the box set, and haven't really done much upgrading of these titles over the years. Of course I saved up months and paid a pretty penny for my set in the early 'nineties!
  23. I may be weird. . . I like the original and expanded Head On. I'd have preferred it remastered by someone else but I'm not begging and choosing.
  24. I might go for the Miles and Tyner (don't have that one on cd)
