  3. Cool way for the day to go! Many more happy returns!
  4. Many many more happy ones James!
  5. No, I mean the "Invasion" show that was on ABC a few years ago, one season only. I haven't yet watched the Wolfe episodes, not a single one. I've read every book though. Archie can be a great source of laughter! But I fear that I know what you mean and I'll probably agree when I get there.
  6. Yes, it's chronically misbehaving! Though at our age, if we have hair, we have to just accept it!

  8. One of my purchases this month was the Jay McShann on Sackville entitled "Just A Lucky So and So." Very nice.
  9. I've purchased lately the complete "Invasion" (tv show) on dvd, as well as the two seasons of "Nero Wolfe."
  10. I'm pretty sure he does. Audio Advisor has had some good prices on this for some time. I considered buying one. . .but the more I listen to my Monitor Audio iDeck (the one with separate speakers and central amplifier/control unit) especially with a modified dvd player going through it, the more happy I am.
  11. I'm caught up on the big boxes. . . I might order the Pendulum Select when it's out.
  12. Well, if you can find the three Una Mae Carlisle discs on Classics you'll have all but a few alternates and maybe a side-person appearance. Fantastic stuff imo, I truly love her voice and style. There's a Harlequin cd that should be still available that has a great session and also includes a nice session by Savannah Churchill.
  13. He really was. He had that power to just reach out and shape the listeners' moments. And he captivated so many others and swept them along in the tide of his musical mind and musical personality. His music can still always surprise me, an amazing thing really.
  14. Here's a question for Chuck, A Charlie Parker in Washington, and a two cd Dizzy at the Spotlight were slated to be released by Uptown this week. . . . They are now delayed. . . . Any estimate on a new release date? Thanks!
  15. Yes, I've been on a tear with this set, right now disc 5
  16. What I find neat is that you can go through the set and hear a track and say "Ah, they've studied the John Coltrane Quartet." And then the next track you say to yourself "I hear they've been listening to Horace Silver!" And the next track, "Wow, that's very Cannonball!" And the next track "Here comes an Eddie Harris inspired tune!" And they're all good tracks, all have a distinct Jazz Crusaders thing going as well as the structure or style of these other bands. Also: Felder was a monster player.
  17. Right now, the excellent Jazz Crusaders set.
  18. Aw Jazzbo--say it ain't so!! Swinging to the new Lester Young with Basie set, disc one. Greg Mo Sorry, it's so, I mean I do really like it but I'll never flip for it that much.
  19. Yes, I love that album!
  20. I'm on a Zizi Possi trip these days. Her stuff is harder to find but interesting. She's so beautiful!
  21. With all due respect, I totally disagree about Cabin in the Sky and bid you a good day. I didn't mean to imply it was either the best black film nor Minelli's best (don't really care about that latter). But I think it's a very effective movie in message and performance. (And reminds me favorably of an optimistic "Les Jeux Son Faits".) On top of that I really think Ethel did a wonderful job with acting and singing.
  22. Yes!
  23. Yeah man, I'll bet it's nice. I love my Teles, although I'm not really playing them now. I really like the neck pup clean and they seem to have more treble and bass than a Strat. . Yeah......"clean"....that pretty much describes the Tele - neck OR bridge. I love it! My Tele has the Fender "Humbuckers" -- clean and bright, different than your pickups though.
