  1. Cheers fasstrack.
  2. Chelsea is not playing tonight so it must be better. Yea I was a bit surprised at how negative they were. It was better tonight but United will be kicking themselves that they didn't score more, Arsenal were pretty poor but only down one goal, not a bad result.
  3. Last night ended up as a bit of a damp squib, especially the second half, hoping for better tonight.
  4. You're not wrong there, Max is actually the first and last musician you hear on that classic album. I was giving it a spin the other night along with "WorkTime", what difference six months can make. "WorkTime" = amazing, "Saxophone Colossus" = mind blowing. The only Rollins Roach session I really didn't care for was "Tour de Force", where it seems that Rollins and Roach are having a bit of a pissing contest, only it's not who can piss the farthest but who can piss the fastest.
  5. I was listening to the early Bird sessions on Savoy and Dial and really enjoying the dates with guitar playing on them, Tiny Grimes, Alvin Garrison but Barney Kessel on the "Relaxin' at Camarillo" session is totally amazing, what balls he must have had to take solos in such company!!! I love the tone of the guitars from that era as well, totally raw.
  6. No, but I do believe without you the entire re-issue market would implode, even more than it already has.
  7. Any other opinions on this one, I know some people don't like the bass playing,
  8. Ditto to that and I'll raise it, it's totally fucking stupid. :tophat:
  9. Well they would have no choice, he is a free agent as of the end of the season so he can go where he wants. It was different with Henzie as he was still under contract to United so they didn't have to sell him. I don't know if United really have the money to keep him at the moment. Liverpool might as they will probably be in the hands of new owners in the summer.
  10. I think I'll have to get this one before it goes OOP. I have Vol 1 and 2 but they don't have any alternates. Currently giving this a spin;
  11. Don't you mean good luck Ipswich. They must have some money to spend, he wouldn't be there otherwise.
  12. Tower in Dublin are looking for €20 for it, that's one reason why I'll probably pass.
  13. I find it hard to believe that this thread has gone 5 pages and nobody has mentioned Max's work with Bird.
  14. I agree. Reflections and Straight Horn seem to get more attention, but Evidence is the one from those early years I'd take to a desert island. I really love his work on Prestige, "Reflections" is a masterpiece IMHO. I would love to hear the Candid date.
  15. Even if you don't like the game itself, this is funny if you're a sports fan. Liverpool v Arsenal - FanZone
  16. Yossi fighting for the cause...
  17. I was wondering if it is v. good/excellent or just ok, I heard a few samples from it and would put it in the ok category. Common or garden hard bop.
  18. That's almost the exact phrase I was using last night, except there was no "bad" there, it was more "Arshavin you ...." "total", "complete", "absolute" etc, etc. Agreed, he has been fantastic in the last few months and althought he'll perhaps never win any of the top awards, I don't think he gets the credit or game time he deserves. He is way above the average in the Premiership.
  19. It's fine. Well that was short and to the point.
  20. Your reviews were right on the money for this one Niko/Swinging Swede, they are two really nice sessions, very enjoyable. :tup
  21. Liverpool 4 - Arsenal 4, wtf, a maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad game.
  22. Yes, makes my job easier. Turns out this was part of the software. :blush2: Yes it's really handy, makes things look a bit cleaner as well. :tup
  23. That's a great 2 cd set, really nice overview of the label.
  24. Same with Paypal (which is sort of the same thing). I was scrupulously hoarding my credit card payments accepted to my Paypal account to under 5 a year, so I could keep the personal account rather than professional or whatever it is called. Then I got a large credit card payment from a UK-based buyer, and they didn't even give me the option. I had to convert or lose the funds. Well, I capitulated, but I certainly resented it. Thank you everybody, I've had my suspicions about the whole ebay/palpal connection, this is what has put me off the whole thing up to this point. I really think if you just want to get rid of a few bits and pieces it could end up being more hassel that it's worth and any extra money you might make via the auction will go in either fees or the exchange rate. Exactly.
  25. Anymore info. or reviews of the date with Jackie Mac, New Wine in Old Bottles???
