    CD length

According to the book that accompanies "The Rubinstein Collection" box, disc 134 (Unreleased Recordings - Part I) has a playing time of 82:58.
  2. When I tried it, the tracks began playing right away.
  3. I like the interface a lot. Very sophisticated, yet easy to use.
  4. Neat effect; thanks!
  5. It's about 11" x 16 1/2". It will accommodate an 8 1/2" x 14" sheet of paper (or one of your A4's); one sad limitation is it will not accommodate an LP cover. But for the other things I use it for (CD covers, K7's, and, of course, to use it as a copier), it's a great solution.
  6. I'm listening now to Dexter Gordon's American Classic. The back cover has a picture of Dex looking at the Statue of Liberty. It appears to have been taken on site (probably at a park on the Jersey side). Yet, even though taken outdoors, the picture seems to show a shadow (caused by the camera's flash) on Dex's right side. It's as if he was photographed in front of a wall, but he appears to be in the open air. Any idea how this effect was achieved?
  7. September 18, 1974, Dijon, France: Special mention must be made of the Playing In The Band that ends the first set. Very unusual, not like any other PITB I've heard. Very trippy; sounds like a late-second-set performance in the first set. This bodes well for the second set. Next: Seastones.
  8. Thought Chuck already answered that - see page 1.
  9. Did you pray to the gods? (I forget if it's the YouTube gods or the Organissimo gods; to be safe, I pray to both.) But seriously, I did nothing special; just pasted the URL then hit return. One thing that might make a difference: when on YouTube, copy the URL from the "Share" button (with the right-facing arrow to the left of it), not from the address box at the top of the browser screen.

    Nice picture; thanks for sharing.
  11. Interesting news article on Hendrix's flat: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3437104/The-real-Red-House-yonder-Bedroom-Mayfair-flat-Jimi-Hendrix-lived-height-fame-opens-public-2-4million-restoration-project.html One photo highlights his record collection. Nice to see albums from Wes Montgomery and Charles Lloyd there.
  12. We can't assume that our cover was a Roulette record. It sure isn't KOB, yet the Roulette record is on top of both of those.
  13. Very sad; a true original. I remember when he and the Hot Licks played a free concert at J&R sometime in the '90's. He kept mumbling these bizarre asides between each number. Towards the end of the set he said to the audience, "I suppose you're wondering why I'm talking like this. When we got here, I saw that the ad said 'Come and meet Dan Hicks!' So I'm hoping that this will dissuade you from wanting to meet Dan Hicks." RIP.
  14. Or does the cover say Moulon-Rouge?
  15. Right, except I'm now seeing that Can-Can was mostly about the skirt, while the LP cover in question might also include plumage/ruffles on the arms. However, I also see the two figures facing each other, though the guy on the right seems like a P.G Wodehouse or Mr. Hulot type, and the woman on the left is wearing a hat and maybe a bustle. So I still dunno. I'm also trying to factor in the albums that were around when the picture was taken (1963). Can-Can yes, calypso maybe, burlesque perhaps? Think:
  16. Re the second word: is there a dash in front of the word?
  17. It still looks like a calypso dancer to me - her body is in the center, with two raised arms holding her plumage, and wearing a headdress.
  18. It's a desktop model.
  19. Do what I do: buy an inexpensive scanner (I have the Epson V300), scan the artwork on the K7s and import them into iTunes or whichever you use.
  20. It looks like a Can-Can type cover, maybe with Gypsy Rose Lee? I couldn't find the exact cover while doing a search, but think of something like this; anyway, that's my guess:
  21. Larry, please see my post from December 2007; I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts: http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php?/topic/30770-bud-powell-1957-1958/&do=findComment&comment=731310
  22. That makes sense.
  23. Yup, I have a 46" 3D plasma. Now be honest, how many times have you watched something in 3D? We did exactly once; bought a great movie (was it How To Train Your Dragon?) but came away thinking the picture's just too dark in 3D.
