    Ted Curson RIP

Never seen that one before. Who's on it...apart from Ted Curson, that is? Was it Ray Drummond and Roy Haynes?

    Ted Curson RIP

Yes, that's the one I had, but I don't remember the "+1"...did they add tracks with an additional musician?

  4. How do the 78's that Yazoo has on their compilations sound so good - do they use a VPI?
  5. No, no, we're all going to lose the subtleties...WE'RE ALL GOING TO SHOUT LIKE THIS!
  6. What does it not mean to have moved on?
  7. Thanks. I also found a video on the Pro-Ject website; it looks pretty straightforward: How to Set Up Your Pro-Ject Turntable (see middle of page)
  8. Saw this on eMusic yesterday; glad to know it's good.

    Ted Curson RIP

My post got lost, too. I enjoyed his trio album on Interplay. It's hard for a trumpeter to sustain interest over the course of an LP in a trio setting, but he did it. RIP.
  10. So I went for a Pro-Ject Debut Carbon in red; ordered it through Crutchfield.
  11. Happy birthday, Paul!
  12. It ends in a question mark, sooooo.....?
  13. Dave's Picks 2013 subscriptions now available from dead.net.
  14. This has just been added on eMusic. Is it previously unreleased? eMusic
  15. Halloween was postponed last year in Connecticut, too. I think that storm was an early snowfall, and lots of it.
  16. The movie will also be shown in Houston on the same day (Nov 10) at 6:30 PM: Houston Cinema Arts Society
  17. Sherman Hemsley still not buried 3 months after death
  18. Couldn't agree more, Chris -- stupid and dumb. Point taken regarding the timing, and people should be careful. But in terms of the resilience and preparedness of coastal cities and metropolises, I feel like we should weather this storm okay. Also, I do understand the original point of this thread - I've lived through many "perfect storms" that turned out to be not much at all. Weather forecasting is, after all, an imperfect art, and it is better to be safe than sorry. Having said all that, I hope this storm will be on the mild side, but it doesn't look like that'll be the case.
  19. This is beginning to sound like this thread should be moved to the "Politics" forum.
  20. Was that a reply to my post? I didn't understand it.
  21. Hate to say it, but... Historical treasures missing from National Archives
  22. You don't want to live through one of those. Where we used to live in Connecticut, it was heavily wooded, and all the utility lines (power, cable, etc) were all above ground. Any bad storm would knock out power for days, plus leave live power lines strewn around the roads. Driving will be treacherous this time of year, with all the leaves on the ground now slippery with rain. Plus this is a region heavily dependent on mass transit - downed power lines also mean no commuter trains. So no, this is no fun...let's hope when the storm does land it's on the mild side.
  23. I've had this problem too and had to remind myself to be extra careful indeed. I've found removal became easier over time once you'd removed the CDs several times by pressing really dead center on the prongs before even trying to lift the CD. However, I've found CDs to be uncommonly tight on pretty strong prongs on several recent CDs I've bought. Could this be a widespread phenomenon with digipacks? I've noticed this too; very annoying.

  25. I often can't hear Garrison - it's almost like he's way down in the mix, although it might be the way he plays. Gary Peacock's another one I have trouble hearing.
