Sencalar's impeccable technique and lyrical phrasing are on full display, as he effortlessly weaves together intricate melodies and harmonies that will leave listeners mesmerized. Release date June 23: George Freeman has been part of jazz for nearly a century. Brother of Von and uncle of Chico Freeman, he's worked with the greats, such as Charlie Parker and Ben Webster. Appearing on the recording is legendary organist Joey DeFrancesco, going into the studio just a couple of months before his untimely death. DeFrancesco admired Freeman's work on a Jimmy McGriff LP so it is quite touching that the two were able to collaborate here. Also featured on 4 tracks is bass phenom Christian McBride stoking up some swinging performances with Freeman. Drummers Lewis Nash and Carl Allen provide propulsive rhythms throughout. It must be said, however, that the pulsing heart of the band is Freeman himself, who plays with integrity and enthusiasm and who continues to bring an impressive lifetime of experience to his work. Montauk-the easternmost point of Long Island-has enjoyed a reputation as an idyllic land of the lotus and poppy but now is fully woven in to the Hamptons summer scene. The charms and views associated with that coastal existence served as a backdrop for the creation of this recording. Notable for a number of reasons-as the first live band date in a lengthy discography, and a first on-record meeting with drumming icon Billy Hart-this O'Connell session stands out. Recorded live at the Hamptons Jazz Fest, with an outfit of top-flight artists including saxophonist Craig Handy and bassist Santi Debriano, the performance was further heightened by the appearance of ebullient trumpeter Randy Brecker and the enthusiasm of attentive and engaged listeners. "Playing live brings out different things in each musician," observes O'Connell. "So I was very happy to do this and I think it was a great night with everybody on their A-game."

Transferring music files (Windows Media Player) to Apple Music
mjzee replied to Milestones's topic in Audio Talk
Here's a start: Open Finder and locate your music files on your EHD. Then open iTunes (aka Music). In the column on the left side of the iTunes window, under Library, click on Songs. This will list all the individual tracks that iTunes recognizes. Go back to Finder, and drag one folder (one album, say) onto the iTunes window. See if the music is copied into the iTunes library. See if those tunes play, and see what metadata transferred along with it. -

Not clear if you're using a desktop or laptop. I thought all their desktops still come with a 3.5 mm headphone jack. If your laptop doesn't (part of Apple's minimalist ethos), you should probably invest in a multiport adapter, such as: You can also play your music using Bluetooth or AirPlay. I have an Apple AirPort Express connected to my stereo, so can stream music from my iMac to that using AirPlay. I also have a pair of Altec desktop speakers connected to my iMac with a 3.5 mm headphone jack. -

Yes, I also generally enjoy Apple Music (iTunes) and find it useful. You may find some hiccups in the beginning, but stick with it. -

Deutsche Grammophon 111 - The Violin, disc 20. -
There was also a fourth factor around this time: record labels remaindering the vinyl in their warehouses. Super cheap, sealed...just great. That era was my first big plunge into classical music; Polygram unloaded so many boxed sets on DG, Philips, etc.

I find dollar crates are valuable to go through once in a location. I've gone to a store, found amazing things in the dollar bin, then went back a few months later to find nothing additional of value. And let's talk about how filthy our fingertips get after an afternoon of dollar bin hunting! Someday I'll have insight into why going through the bargain CD bins is a totally different experience. I lose interest very quickly.

Another open question is whether Milestones used Apple Music (aka iTunes) on his Windows computers. It would probably be less of a migration task if he did. -
Did they hire Orrin Keepnews?

I would proceed with caution. First, make an entire backup of your EHD. -
