  1. I love the Mc Lean, Moncur, Hutcherson combination.
  2. Very nice. Yes. And interesting to hear.
  3. Very nice, but what guitar is the guitarist playing? A D'Angelico?
  4. That's what I assumed when I saw the question of who was reissuing this. I have many of them, among them the Marty Paich Quartet with Art Pepper.
  5. A nice set, although it consists of two discs.
  6. Yes, I also agree with that. Wouldn't part with my copies of both, but I feel a deep love for Melle's bari and his experimentation thirst.
  7. I love that cover. And also all of the JiP series. And that one
  8. Same everywhere, I guess, at least here in Barcelona the situation is exactly the same.
  9. Daniel Woodrell - Winter's Bone
  10. I have this and can confirm that it sounds fine
  11. And Broken Wing, which was recorded somewhere in the 80s in a Parisian studio? I consider it one of his best late efforts. It's part of the Jazz in Paris series.
  12. Discs 4 and 5. The incredible Farlow, Eddie Costa and Vinnie Burke trio.
  13. Mine just came in today. I was after this boxset for some time, and with that price I didn't hesitate. Delivery was a bit longer than expected. They ship from Berlin. And regarding their reliability I looked this site up frequently (for a.o. Brazilian stuff) around 2005/06, but I don't know if I ever ordered from them. I think not.
  14. Yeah, I read the book. I was behind Cope's Krautrocksampler but only found his Japrocksampler, which I found also very interesting, centering around the early 60s pop pioneers and early 70s rockers.

Ah, yes. The series was called West Coast Classics (here's a thread about that series. I just discovered it). I don't know what I was thinkng of. Probably that a lot of the releases were Pacific Jazz albums.

Yes, it was reissued on CD in the late nineties in my much beloved Pacific Jazz Classics series by Capitol. I'm afraid it's OOP now. But maybe some copies can be dug up. I gave it a listen yesterday and liked it more than I did remember. Recommended.
  17. Interesting article. It corroborates some ideas I had picked up elsewhere. Like the "superhuman" dope fiends. Or others. Though I'm looking at this less from the jazz history perspective than the drug prohibition/war on drugs angle.
  18. Lucky me: I acquiered both recently.
  19. A good chance to hear the different approaches of two jazz greats towards working with Miles Davis (there are two concerts here: one with the Kind of Blue band minus Cannonball Adderley, with Coltrane, and the other with Stitt substituting Coltrane). One outblazing Miles completely and the other allowing him to shine on his own. Both are great.
  20. A really good set. My first select, I think, as this was #1. I love the McLean, Moncur, Hutcherson combination.
