I was just hearing a story on NPR Marketplace that sometimes these innocent looking pass time games on the i-Internet are actually programs under the hood to get as much private data about you as possible! I think I will be skeptical about them in the future. P.S. I took it twice before I even understood and followed the directions correctly on the color game. Now somebody knows everything about me, as though that were worthwhile!

Well, Chase Utley appeared hurt in the league championship series and could not make lateral moves well before throwing. I give the defensive edge to NY. Tex has been great at first.
-
You're right, my mistake! First championship since 1917. Still a pretty good story.

I know what you mean about being swept, but 4-0 on a page in a record book meant nothing to me and didn't even touch the tip of the iceberg for that story since every single game was so dramatic and could have gone either way. The sportswriters were extremely unimaginative reporting on that series. Ran out of angles after having written about the Red Sox, I guess. What'll be the angle this year? Maybe A-Rod (he did it in the playoffs - but can he do it in the WS?). Maybe a diss on the NL? (Phils play like they are in the REAL league). Who knows.

The men's softball league and American Gladiators had a baby and they called it NHL! -
I don't care what the Times says about clunker series or ratings. The White Sox-Astros series was great! And I was for Houston! You had the drama of the White Sox' first series since throwing one, and Houston's first appearance ever. Each of the games could have gone either way.

The previous two games that were won coming from behind with one out left in the ninth were the Kirk Gibson game when he homered (I can't believe what I just saw) and the 1947 Bill Bevens no-hitter broken up by Cookie Lavagetto (Wankees v Bums.) Heard that on a local sports talk show. The 1986 game was not one of them.

Don't think this came out in hardback. WorldCat shows 18 copies in libraries worldwide, and they are paperback. Perhaps the whole Penguin series this belongs to is paperback. -
Molly O'Day had a brief but brilliant career in country music in the late 1940s, contemporary with Hank Williams. They did a lot of the same songs. Her best remembered song was probably Teardrops Falling in the Snow. She left the country music industry to sing gospel music. Here is a clip of her doing Six More Miles to the Graveyard: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FX75BX7auQY

So the AL series won't resume until Friday, no matter the late date or the weather? This could affect momentum.

Bill Brasky's Funeral. http://snltranscripts.jt.org/96/96nbrasky.phtml "He had a four day heart attack!" "They found sixty dollars in change in his stomach!" "He did all the make-up on the Planet of the Apes movies." "He grew a third arm and kept it in a vault!" -
Salute to all the teams qualifying for post-season! I was interested in Atlanta, but they were eliminated today. For my home team in Washington? Wait til next year! (it might take a lot of years, actually!). Convinced it's bad karma embracing the name Nationals/Senators. Guess I should be glad we didn't name them the Wizards or Redskins. Can't anybody name a ball team around here?

Great drummer with Frank Frost, Big Jack Johnson, and the Jelly Roll Kings, and before that with Sonny Boy Williamson (Rice Miller). Obit Got to see him wailin' away at the Twist and Shout club mentioned therein. RIP.

What in the WORLD? -
No, but their bird can sing.

Well, here's Pee Wee looking like Uncle Junior and singing! Waltz for Everybody (or the Whole World's Waltz) These are from a television studio program in 1985, hence the cowboy shirts etc. The singer's style looks a lot like my older brother's, with the greaser hair and all.

You haven't seen stiff stage presence until you see one of those old Cajun bands! Catch him around 1:10! (Looks like Uncle Junior)
