  1. I won the LP version on Ebay recently without knowing much about that set and George Shearing himself. I have just finished listening to the whole set and I have really enjoyed it. This is a very pleasant surprise. I am surprised not to see this one discussed much here. I can't even find a topic on it. What are your views on that one?
  2. Up. The Turrentine and the Donaldson sets are on hold.
  3. First post from me in this thread! I have been hit by the LPmania so it won't be the last one. Hank Mobley 'Soul Station' (King records)
  4. The Complete CBS Buck Clayton Jam Sessions set (LPs). It should keep me going for a while. I have had this one for a very long time and I haven't given it all the attention it deserves.
  5. Everything is in like new condition with OBI. $16 per CD + $2 per CD for shipping anywhere. Payment through Paypal for international buyers or cheques for UK members. PM if interested. Thanks. 6. Are the BN 'Connoisseur series' LPs worth a try as well?
  7. So you did take the plunge! I have the LP version of this set. It is one of my favorite Mosaic too and I really like the sound quality. The trio sessions are .
  8. I can recommend the Japanese Impulse reissues (MCA) - I have a few of those from Mr Tanno and they sound great ! The domestic/US MCAs are from the 1970s/80s I think and tend to be not so great - I seem to recall that the ones from the 80s are DMM. UK 70s Impulses and Red/Black US second pressings are both worth having though. Thanks Bob. More business for Mr Tanno then. My new hobby is going to cost me a fortune.I knew I shouldn't have started buying records!!
  9. What about Impulse reissues? Which ones would you recommend. I have seen a few MCA on Ebay recently. Are they any good? What about The Colubia Impulse reissues?
  10. Thanks to all of you. Between Classic reissues, King and Toshiba, which ones would you rather go for?
  11. No problem Porcy. I knew this thread existed but I couldn't find it. I am very likely to go the King or the Toshiba route as I don't feel like spending a fortune on originals. When I see how much they go for on Ebay, it makes me I have all the BN Mosaic LP sets ( apart from the Lee Morgan set) and they really sound great especially the Hank Mobley and the Don Cherry. I will be mainly looking for some Freddie Hubbard, Lou Donaldson, Horace Silver, Kenny Dorham, Lee Morgan, Stanley Turrentine and the Grant Green albums that are not on the Mosaic set.
  12. I have decided to progressively replace my BN mini LP CDs with LPs reissues. I am not too sure where to start and where to get them from. Hiroshi is brilliant but price of shipping for LPs will undoubtedly be very high. Is 'Early records' the cheapest option? Any other suggestion? Could our vinyl specialists also tell me which Blue Note reissues sound best? Are Toshiba and King the best Thanks.
  13. I have seen that one as well. We should all bombard him with stupid questions about shipping, the condition of the set etc. I hope nobody is going to be mad enough to bid!
  14. Miles Davis Complete Blackhawk Sessions LP 3
  15. A new jazz radio has been launched in the UK. It is called thejazz. No adverts, no talking ( not even to mention the name of the artiststs they play ) and it is on 24 hours a day. See the link below. I have been listening to it for a few hours and it is not bad at all. Nothing to do with the appaling 'Jazz FM' that plays as much jazz as I play Celine Dion on my turntable! You can listen to it if you have a digital radio DAB or on Telewest ( channel 961) or on Sky (channel 0113) http://www.thejazz.com/
  16. First 2007 Mosaic!! Sam Rivers LP 4. What a nice way to start the year.
  17. Happy new year to all!
  18. Donald Byrd will be playing there from Tuesday 2nd to Sunday 7th of Janury. I believe he hasn't played in London for about 30 years. The Jazz Cafe website doesn't say much about the type of music he will be playing and who he will be with. Does anybody else have more information about this?
  19. Very bad timing. It is a lot of money a few days after xmas..... I feel like letting them go but I can hear a little voice telling me to get at least one...... Not sure which one to go for though!
  20. Amazon UK has been selling it for £29.97 (or $60) for at least four months now).
  21. Hall/ Johnson/ De Paris .... I grabbed this one on Ebay recently because it was cheap and I am glad I got it.
