  1. Just back from this: http://upcoming.yahoo.com/event/197372/ Rita Marcotulli on the piano was completely unknown to me. She absoluetly blew me away. I am not sure if there are other dates in the UK, but if there are don't hesitate to go to this.
  2. How many copies were printed for these sets? I have just managed to grab the third one on Ebay for a reasonable price ($300). I haven't got any Commodore material in my collection yet....
  3. I listened to records 5, 6 and 7 a few days ago. The 'Of Love and Peace' session is very challenging but I am starting to like it. I much prefer the more 'conventional' Larry Young stuff. The 'Unity' session is in a league of its own. I really like this set . I also like the fact that it has nine records for nine albums. That must be my French cartesian side....
  4. I took the plunge! I ordered the Miles Davis at Montreux set for $161 + 6.99 for shipping. Not bad at all. Yet, the same set was advertised for $296.74 just below . I ordered this last night but I haven't received any confirmation or anything else from them yet. Late, did you receive any confirmation for your order? Wait and see. I like this type of stress......
  5. I am thinking of buying a few CDs from these guys. How reliable are they? Have any European board members done business with them?
  6. If only you could be right! He would be surely coming to Bath.... Come on Wayne! Reopening the spa in Bath has been a very very long and expensive adventure but it is a great place. For the concert in Harrogate, I will be on holiday in Iceland. Maybe in the Blue Lagoon on that night! Another ..... spa!
  7. The Parlan set is a must have in my opinion. I find it incredible that none of his albums has been RVGed!
  8. This one is going to keep me busy for the next two days.... If somebody could tell me how to insert pictures properly, it would be much appreciated. This attached thumbnails thingy looks awful!
  9. I saw Wayne Shorter play in Marciac a couple of years ago. Brilliant performance! Randy Weston was playing on the same night. I hope Wayne will be visiting the UK soon. Any info?
  10. That one crops up in weird places. Found my copy on Guernsey ! Very weird place indeed!
  11. Thanks for the input. I can't find it for less than $165. It is a lot but considering that there are 20CDs, I may be tempted. Yet, if somebody here has a spare one for $60 give me a shout!
  12. I have had this set for a week and I really enjoy the music. It is better than I expected it to be. I don't have the LPs so I can't comment on the differences but the sound is more than decent. Having listened to a lot of LPs lately, this sounds very CDlike to me but again, it is very enjoyable.
  13. Somebody explain to me why numbering those sets costs money?! Funnily enough, the price of Selects has gone up since they stopped numbering them.
  14. I have to agree with this. I do not own a massive LP collection (yet! ) but these four records are in a different league. Don Cherry and Thad Jones/Mel Lewis sets Mosaic are also contenders.
  15. Up. This set is getting a bit more difficult to find now. Have more board members pulled the trigger? Any updated views on that one?
  16. The weather is disgusting here today. Rainy and quite chilly. A good day to listen to jazz music.....
  17. Poor game won by a team that should never have taken part in the competition ( Milan should have been relegated for corruption and should have been kicked out of this cup). As for Liverpool, can somebody explain to me what they are doing in the Champions league when they regularly end up twenty-five points behind the leader of the Premiership? The game sucked but football sucks even more. Yet, I am a big fan..... I can't help it!
  18. Is it common for WKCR to present this type of marathons or is it just a one off? This is a great idea. I'm really digging this. Listening now to Sam's Impulse recording: 'Streams'. Great stuff again! I really hope I will have the chance to see him again play in the UK soon. I am still so sad about not having been able to see Andrew Hill before his ... departure.
  19. Wow, we have now moved on to unexplored territory for me with this recording with Albert Ayler in NY. Brilliant!
  20. Damn, I want that one to slow down a little bit. It's going to be an expensive week ! Well Bob, it is time to take the plunge otherwise you will have to come to Bristol to listen to it!
  21. Waow! . They will have been in the 'running low' section for just a week. This has to be a record! These sets are so good especially (the 63-64) that I believe I should buy them again!
