  1. Phil Woods Quartet/Quintet 20th Anniversary. Another gem from Mosaic!
  2. Yes I have seen this set in a few shops in the UK and the box is definitely rectangular. (same size as the Herbie Hancock BN sessions). I nearly bought it for £30 a couple of years ago but I gave it a miss. I bought the larger box on Ebay a few months later. I like this set!
  3. I am seriously thinking of buying this as the price is very attractive. Yet, as I have become a bit of a vinyl cruisader, I am sitting on the fence...Is the material covered by this set easy to find on vinyl at a decent price?
  4. I agree with that, although it is difficult to predict when you are going to be hit or not. My last two Mosaic orders were over $200 and I seem to have got away with it although they shipped with DHL.I stopped using USPS as Royal Mail are a bunch of inefficient lazy people who get away with murder. I have often found my Mosaic parcels sitting outside my front door in the rain. you can't even make a complaint as they don't bother answering the phone.... I also find that with USPS, the parcels often get stuck at the customs for much longer..
  5. Knowing the state of British jazz at the time, I'm sure this title was 100% accurate. Listening to Oliver Nelson 'More Blues and the AbstrAct Truth' (Impulse) 1964
  6. I am glad I managed to resist the temptation.
  7. Any chance that this could happen or is it pure fantasy?
  8. Disk five this morning -- loud. I can't seem to listen to just one cd for this box set, I always wind up going through about ten in-a-row; it really does have fantastic music. I completely agree with you. What usually makes me stop playing the next disc is the hassle of extracting the CDs from their sleeve in this awful rusty box! The music is just incredible on that set!
  9. Thanks to all of you! I had a great day. We went to the snooker world championships in Sheffield for the semi-finals. As my other half works for TV, we managed to go backstage and we even made it to the commentary box! I have always loved this game. The standard of play this weekend was just amazing. We then went for a lovely meal in town. I believe there is a Mosaic set on its way to Bristol but I don't know which one it is!
  10. Bill Evans, The Final Village Vanguard Sessions. Glad I have got that one.
  11. Just ordered the Miles Davis Quintet 65-68 set and the Hutcherson & McCoy Tyner selects.
  12. Hank Mobley 'No Room For Squares' (King Records)
  13. I saw it for £3 today in my local shop and I listened to a few tunes. I really enjoyed the tracks I listened and the version of 'A la mode'. I didn't buy it for £3 but it is a good deal.
  14. Bud Shank LP 4. Very nice music. I am glad I have got that one!
  15. My next Mosaic set has just arrived. . It is the Miles Davis 1963-64 set. According to Mosaic, this one is very likely to be the next Davis set to go OOP with the Silent Way. A bit surprising as the 63-64 set is the most recent Mosaic Davis set (number 226).
  16. Very sad news. I had become such a big fan of his. R.I.P
  17. Me too. The moment I see this set at $35 the money will fly out of pocket with gusto ! In the interim, I'll live with the vinyl. Amazon UK had it for £42 for a while (instead of £62) but I was too slow to pull the trigger. I was hoping for a better deal that never came. Still, it shows that the price of the recent Universal sets should go down sooner or later.
  18. The Dizzy (Universal version) is available for 80 Euro from the german store JPC (= $108, plus 8 Euro shipping cost and no customs duty) : http://www.jpc.de/jpcng/jazz/detail/-/hnum/5129160/ I'm not sure if Zweitausendeins will offer any more Mosaic box sets. The only box sets they are selling now are cheap public domain compilations. Thanks Claude - that's a shame if zweitausendeins don't offer any further Mosaics. Maybe we've passed a Golden Age as far as they were concerned. The good deals with 2001 may be over but I am sure we will still find the Universal sets at a good price in a place or another. There is no reason why this should stop. Amazon UK have been selling the Basie set for £33 for ages and the Farlow set was at £32 for a very long time as well. I got my Farlow set in France at the FNAC for 35 euros. This must have been a one-off as it is quite an expensive shop. ( I saw the Nelson set at 150 euros at the FNAC in Nancy last week! ). I really can't wait for this set to be on my shelves....
  19. The last BN Mosaic set is the Donaldson. Mosaic haven't worked on a Blue Note set for ages. ( apart from the Select sets). Are RVGs the only reason?
  20. Thanks for informing me before i go through all the charade and making an order before i notice it. I think i'll create a store that delivers everywhere except the US. You are alright. They do ship to Canada. See the link below. I know that for many people Montreal is part of France but you should be ok! http://www.jr.com/templates/information/ge...hopping.tem#G04
  21. Another company that believe there is no life outside the US! No international shipping..... Yes, yes we have electricity here, we listen to music and we even listen to CDs! Amazing isn't it!
