clifford_thornton Posted February 8, 2012 Report Posted February 8, 2012 Bill Barron-Ted Curson 'Now Hear This! Audio-Fidelity, stereo) Was just listening to this the other night. Fine one indeed. Chuck said something a while back about the Riker's Island LP being much, much better in mono. Does that hold true for other Audio Fidelity LPs? Quote
Clunky Posted February 8, 2012 Report Posted February 8, 2012 I forgot this was a Nessa LP! Lucky Thompson, Tete Montoliu, Eric Peter, Peer Wyboris (don't know the last two). Nessa n-13: two interesting quotes about that record: "Damn, that's a real bebop rhythm section" - Roscoe Mitchell "Oh yeah, you got the real tapes" - Eli Thompson Lucky is cross eyed here. Great date, not with standing facial asymmetry. Quote

paul secor Posted February 8, 2012 Report Posted February 8, 2012 The Alternate Blues (Pablo) After listening to this, I completely understand Jim Sangrey's feelings about Bobby Durham. Too bad he didn't get lost on his way to the studio. A drummerless session would have worked just fine. Quote

sidewinder Posted February 9, 2012 Report Posted February 9, 2012 A hot session: That Atlantic 'That's Jazz' series was excellent. Around 1977/78 if I remember right - I picked up quite a few of them (including that one). Quote
Clunky Posted February 9, 2012 Report Posted February 9, 2012 I thought this dreadfully sacharine when I first got it, but it has some merits and enjoyed playing it late last night . I think it's the synth that troubles me. Prefer Dark Warrior. Khan Jamal - Thinking of you- Storyville Quote

But I never saw the mono editions of these! When given the choice, I always picked the mono copy back in the vinyl times Now listening to: Ted Brown 'Free Spirit' Quote
