Arthur Blythe - Light Blue: Arthur Blythe Plays Thelonious Monk (Columbia)

That's a good one, the instrumentation alone avoids too direct a comparison to Monk's recordings of the tunes.  One of the great bands, IMHO.  Has anyone here heard the guitarist Kelvin Bell's own Kelvinator stuff?

Np Andrew Hill - Eternal Spirit (Blue Note) 1989

sometimes this one gets lost in the shuffle but I like hearing Hutcherson w/Hill and Greg Osby is a nice addition.  His adventurous soloing mixed wth his lovely tone makes for satisfying listening.

Agreed. I got this on casette when it first cam out and looped it for weeks in the car. Very satisfying session, as well as a "is he or isn't he?" cover photo.

Wow, never saw that one before. I guess all of the tracks are in the Mosaic box ?

Yes. I bought my copy directly from Jim Neumann about 20 years ago. He had a bunch of them. I wonder if he ever got rid of all of them?

I guess none of the copies made it across the Atlantic  - can’t recall seeing it at the usual London Beehive outlets ( Mole, Ray’s etc.).

Amina Claudine Myers, Songs for Mother E (Leo)

That's a DAMN good record! And also a should-be-canonical B-3 organrecord.

I saw Amina Claudine Myers ln person leading an organ trio one time; it was great.

got a few sealed ones and each was warped beyond playability. Indeed, the tracks are in the Mosaic.
