Pim Posted November 2, 2023 Report Posted November 2, 2023 Excellent record for listening while storm Ciaran passes by here. I’ve got fond memories of this record as it was the only Coleman Hawkins record my dad had but he spinned it a lot, loud and especially on dark rainy autumn afternoons. I later picked it up as one of my first vinyl records for 5 euros. Quote

Ken Dryden Posted November 2, 2023 Report Posted November 2, 2023 About to spin, won on ebay a few days ago for $.99 and shipping from Japan. The last piece of the puzzle, as I already owned volumes 2 & 3. Quote

Pim Posted November 3, 2023 Report Posted November 3, 2023 The upcoming reissue made me spin this again. I still agree with every praising word I gave to it. I am curious how the reissue will sound. Guess it will not be from the master tapes? The original sounds incredible as all those Japanese Victors from the ‘70’s do. Quote

I hope that BBE obtained access to the master tapes and that the AQ is top shelf. Right now, I only have a blogosphere-sourced MP3 that I stumbled across many years ago. Also, this reissue makes me wonder whether perhaps BBE will be able to reissue other Japanese Victor albums in the future. For example, I would LOVE to see a reissue of Akira Miyazawa's Kiso. Quote
