Fresh Sound has also another CD edition. The Tony Fruscella Atlantic is one of my absolute favourites. Nick Travis' "The Panic is on" is another that shares a similar status for me. For some reason I think of these two as a pair , even though there isn't too much in common other than era. Quote

Kevin Bresnahan Posted April 19, 2024 Report Posted April 19, 2024 Just finished: Curtis Counce - You Get More Boounce With Curtis Counce (Contemporary/Analogue Productions) Now playing: The Prestige Blues Swingers feat. Coleman Hawkins - Stasch (Prestige). I picked up this beautiful RVG pressing a few years back and stuffed it into the LP rack in the Various Artists section. I need to look in that section more often. Fun stuff. Old timey swing-styled in places but still fun. Quote
mjazzg Posted April 19, 2024 Report Posted April 19, 2024 Billy Harper - Capra Black [Strata East, 1973] I really should play this more often Quote

sidewinder Posted April 20, 2024 Report Posted April 20, 2024 (edited) Cannonball Adderley 'Burnin' in Bordeaux' RSD 2LP release, recorded 1969. Both of the Adderley RSD twofers on Elemental are absolutely burning, full of presence and sound very punchy in the vinyl format. Copy no. 73 ! My local was well stocked with most of the releases, including Waldron/Lacy, Lateef and Sun Ra. They didn't get a delivery of the Rollins though. Edited April 20, 2024 by sidewinder Quote

I'll bet they sound good on CD as well - mono sound but well recorded by INA. For any Adderley Brothers fans I would say don't hesitate on both sets, I am enjoying them very much.
