Good one 👍 ....

I wish Tito would've listed the personnel on his albums.

I hear Charlie Palmieri's organ on several cuts, but I'd love to know the names of all of the musicians.

@mikeweil, IIRC, you were working on a Tito Puente discography.  Is that correct?

If so, I'd be first in line to use it.  ;)

Those details aren't on the liner!  (at least on the recent Craft reissue, which is what I have.)

Yes, I've noticed this as I've begun exploring more salsa (and Latin music in general) over the last few years.  Often, neither the recording dates nor the musicians are listed.  And it would be nice to know who they players are (especially), so you can do "musical hopscotch," jumping from sideman to leader, leader to sideman, to expand one's knowledge.   . . . The discographical details on (most) jazz albums help facilitate that.

It is an adventurous "research journey" but also part of the fun .... and often it helps to listen even closer to recognise/distinguish individual musicians ....

Can only recommend Lord's discography for research. Have it for many years. The Investment has payed out for me.

You're right regarding "Jazz" recordings .... with "Latin" related stuff less so ....

Roots of Rhythm - Prince Onago and Princess Muana (with Chick Foster and His Quintet) - Jubilee (stereo)

Like Chaino and Korla Pandit, this is another example of willful self-exoticism.  Onago and Muana claimed to be African royalty; in reality, they were from East St. Louis.  This is one of two LPs they recorded, the other for 20th Century Fox.  I have both.
