Rabshakeh Posted February 8 Report Posted February 8 Art Ensemble of Chicago - Les Stances a Sophie I've owned this one on the Soul Jazz reissue for a while but it was time to trade up. It sounds great. I don't normally do this, but for the AEC and Roscoe Mitchell I get vinyl-brained. Quote

Gheorghe Posted February 13 Report Posted February 13 8 hours ago, HutchFan said: I think it is my favourite Bobby Hutcherson record from the old stuff. See, I only saw him a few times, together with Jackie McLean on one occasion, but when I bought some records I think it was this and another, I love this because it has one of my all time favourites Sam Rivers. And the piano is very interesting. I think I love most the tune Catta, is it on this album ? 11 hours ago, HutchFan said: Now spinning: A desert-island disc. it sure is. The thing I had with that tune is, it was such common ground when I learned jazz, everybody played it. And when I saw this record much much later I thought "wow, didn´t know it was written 10 years ago..... Because I heard it live with the same group......okay it was not George Coleman, it was Wayne Shorter so it was the VSOP I think, but I have seen George Coleman also live when he had made that record "Amsterdam News" or how it was titled.
