Any Info available which single LPs are on the set or is the set a compilation from various records?

It's a compilation.  See tracks & personnel in the left column below:

from https://www.discogs.com/master/308203-Sonny-Rollins-Sonny-Rollins

IIRC, this was the first Sonny Rollins album I ever heard.  :)

I just bought my first Joe Lee Wilson, 'Shout For Trane' and I'm mighty impressed.

I haven't heard that one.  Will have to check it out.  :tup

Now giving this LP its first spin:

Gunter Hampel & His Galaxie Dream Band - That Came Down On Me: Live at The Berlin Jazzfestival 1978 (Birth)

All the main Prestige albums - ‘Saxophone Colossus’, ‘Tenor Madness’, ‘Plus One’, ‘Worktime’ etc.

Sound is very good. Get this one and the ‘Saxophone Colossus and More’ Prestige Twofer and you are pretty well sorted for Rollins on Prestige vinyl, unless very big bucks beckons.

Just learnt that he moved to the UK for a good part of his latter career. Things I know now that I wish I'd known then...

His wife was English - lived in Brighton in latter days I think. I have the feeling that Clifford Jarvis lived there too (or was it Hastings).

Two excellent jazz vocal albums from the 1970s:

Ni0xMDg0LmpwZWc.jpeg

Joe Lee Wilson - Secrets from the Sun (Inner City, 1978)
Recorded in Paris with Steve Lacy's quartet.  (Lacy is credited as "Steve Sax")

Just listened to "Mode For Trane" and the saxplayer can't be Steve Lacy ....

Ah yes thanks again. Have the three highlighted above  + the one Prestige  LP 7075  which was issued under Monks name  on a OJC CD  Thelonious Monk / Sonny Rollins.

"Saxophone Colossus" is on the wantlist and soon coming in. Difficult is the track D4 of the twofer. He seems to be issued only on an EP 1337 .  There exists an LP on Bellaphone " MJQ the early years"  but the track with Rollins is missing on that LP which I have. So I will decide against the twofer  for that one special track.

Thanks for the informative conversation.

I was just looking at that on Discogs due to the discussion elsewhere. Looks very interesting

with Ahmed Abdullah, Billy Bang, Marion Brown, Sirone, Fred Hopkins and Andrew Cyrille. Must say it‘s not as great as expected seeing those names but it’s still a very solid session.

I have that and remember thinking much the same when I bought it but when I dug it out a little while ago, after a very long time it surprised me just how good it was.

Primary

Joe Chambers - The Almoravid [Muse, 1974]

Sometimes albums with big reputatiions, and attendant inflated used market prices, live up to and even surpass expectations. Here's one
