GregK Posted January 11, 2005 Report Posted January 11, 2005 Would you believe BMG now has Dylan's Self Portrait CD? Why? Was this even part of the SACD reissue series? And even if it was, isn't this supposed to be Dylan's worst album ever? Meanwhile, nothing of real interest in the jazz dept. beyond the Conns. not an SACD. His worst would be Dylan, which is outtakes from Self-Portrait, his second worst album Quote
GA Russell Posted January 14, 2005 Report Posted January 14, 2005 I received an offer today for Buy One Get Four Free. Code L5PM5, expires 1/17/05. A few weeks ago that would have been a great deal, but now that we're onto Your Music, it's not so hot! Quote
Aggie87 Posted January 14, 2005 Report Posted January 14, 2005 for an extra 10% off, code L5PM4... Quote
Big Al Posted January 24, 2005 Author Report Posted January 24, 2005 50% off, no shipping: L5OD1 If anyone knows the 60% code, I'd be obliged! Quote

RDK Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 I thought this thread was about to die! Not so long as some corporate entity is willing to send "free" CDs to our mailboxes! Quote
GA Russell Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 Last week I noticed that 25 Music Points had been subtracted from my total. I called, and was told that it's a "use 'em or lose 'em" situation; and that I should have been told a couple of months ago that they were going to expire. Well, I wasn't told, so she gave me my points back. I decided to spend them, since I expect most of my shopping in 2005 will be with yourmusic.com. So I ordered the Ray Charles Complete Atlantic R&B box, which arrived today. Quote

Aggie87 Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 I think I'm gonna hang onto both for now. It doesn't "cost" anything to keep your membership in BMG, if nothing else. And they seem to update their list of newly added titles a little quicker than yourmusic.com. So it might be handy at least from that standpoint. And if yourmusic ever does start messing with their prices, it might be handy to have BMG in your back pocket still... Quote
WD45 Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 I thought about that, but then I thought if that happened, I could just re-join the regular BMG club, perhaps through one of youse alls! Quote

May as well try and bump it up to 29 or 30 to pick up the Legacy Edition of either the Allman Bros. Fillmore East or Santana’s first album. Quote
GA Russell Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 At the bottom of my cart is a place indicating how many free CDs I have coming. I believe that this is independent of the Music Points deal. I think it has to do with referring new members. This morning I noticed that one had been subtracted. Looks like I have another phone call to make! Quote
GA Russell Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 The code for 60% off with no shipping is L5OD7. Offer expires 1/26/05. Quote
GA Russell Posted January 25, 2005 Report Posted January 25, 2005 OK, I called them about that indicator at the bottom of my cart showing how many free CDs I have coming. It turns out that the number is a combination of all the free CDs, including what my Music Points total would buy. So since I spent some Music Points, the indicator number was decreased. Quote

ghost of miles Posted January 29, 2005 Report Posted January 29, 2005 New code for 60% off with no shipping: L5ODL Offer expires 1/30/05. Thanks, man! I've been holding off on the latest Hutcherson, Silver, and Wilson Connoisseurs... just picked them all up (4 CDs) for $26 total. Quote
ghost of miles Posted January 29, 2005 Report Posted January 29, 2005 Don't know if these clearance titles have been posted recently, but BMG currently has the RVGs of MILES DAVIS V. 1 and V. 2 for $1.99--as well as Charlie Parker's LIVE AT STORYVILLE and Sinatra's POINT OF NO RETURN. Quote
j lee Posted January 29, 2005 Report Posted January 29, 2005 (edited) Good point -- yesterday I bought a bunch of clearance $1.99 titles and, using the 60% off/no s/h code bought two 2-cd sets -- that, with four free cds I had coming to me brought the average cost to around $4.12/CD or something like that. At any rate $1.99+2.74 < $4.99, if you're into the uber-realm of bargain seeking. Also at $1.99: Hampton Hawes, "Northern Windows"; Richter on Prokofiev's 8th Sonata and 5th Concerto; von Karajan conducting Mahler's 5th; Monk's "Misterioso" (one of my favorites); recent Brendel on Mozart's concerti 22 and 27 (if you're an Alf fan); Martha Argerich "Live from the Concertgebouw 1978-1979"; Emerson Str Quart playing Webern's works for string quartet (if you don't have one of the boxes, this is a good place to start, I suppose). Plus the ones mentioned and some others. Edited January 30, 2005 by j lee Quote

riverrat Posted February 12, 2005 Report Posted February 12, 2005 Tjazz and others who monitor BMG closely- do you happen to keep lists of the Connoisseurs, Verve Elites, Verve Master Editions, Riverside/Prestige/OJC K2's that are available from them? I'm trying to optimize my order as I rejoin. While working my way through this thread and checking BMG I found that several of the Verve LPR added just last fall are already gone, e.g. Stitt "Personal Appearance". Thanks! Quote
Tjazz Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 New (on yourmusic.com too): RCA Centennials CD/DVD Duke Ellington, Artie Shaw, Benny Goodman, Coleman Hawkins ($9.98 yourmusic.com) Quote
