Rooster_Ties Posted March 16, 2005 Report Posted March 16, 2005 So we just lost the board's funniest member thanks in part to Soulstation1's pee-wee intellect and some uneven moderating. Good grief. There's also Aric going off the deep end too, remember that too. Quite enough blame to go around several times over, if you ask me.

Epithet Posted March 16, 2005 Report Posted March 16, 2005 So we just lost the board's funniest member thanks in part to Soulstation1's pee-wee intellect and some uneven moderating. Good grief. There's also Aric going off the deep end too, remember that too. Quite enough blame to go around several times over, if you ask me. That's why I say 'in part'. Why? Because he's predictable. I can say in hindsight that there was a 98.5% chance of him going off the deep end given the provocation. Don't poke the animals that have claws.
Randy Twizzle Posted March 16, 2005 Report Posted March 16, 2005 link: SOURCE (scroll down a bit)... Aric Effron PG Major, American Politics Hometown: San Diego, CA Notable Accomplishments at UPS: Only independent black music (of the '50s-'60's) radio show in Tacoma to feature jazz of the independent record labels Blue Note, Prestige, El Saturn, and Pacific Jazz Records Best Memory of UPS: (N/A) Future Plans: Law school My best memory of UPS was when the Hank Mobley Mosaic box was delivered.
Rooster_Ties Posted March 16, 2005 Report Posted March 16, 2005 Much of the time, Aric was pretty god damn funny. Some of the time he was a major asshole. Sometimes you take the good with the bad. Sometimes the bad gets too bad, and you kick the sonofabitch out, and then you don't have the good no more either. Them's the breaks. Maybe we let Aric cool off for six months, and then invite him back ( ). No, not for one month -- that'd be too quick. Six months, that'd be better. I won't miss the crazy, "take-it-way-too-damn-far" shit from Aric. But sure, I will definitely miss the good stuff -- the crazy stuff, the ROTFLMAO shit. Or maybe we don't invite him back ever. Whatever. It's Jim's board, and it's Jim's call, and I'll back whatever he decides.
BERIGAN Posted March 16, 2005 Report Posted March 16, 2005 (edited) At least there was a reaction to the threats on this board. When I started a thread on BN innocently asking what jazz men/women had been "light in the loafers"(Perhaps Aric used some telepathy to make me start that thread! ) and sugggested that Lester Young might have been from what I had read, he threatened to kick my ass, and find a Chinese guy and hack into my Computer, blah, blah, blah. I don't even think he got a warning. Edited March 16, 2005 by BERIGAN

Jim Alfredson Posted March 16, 2005 Report Posted March 16, 2005 AH... I just realized you said "BN". Sorry. I try to keep up on things here. I invite people to use the "report" button.
Soulstation1 Posted March 17, 2005 Report Posted March 17, 2005 iamsorry is gonna post something watch
Guest DizzySpells Posted March 17, 2005 Report Posted March 17, 2005 iamsorry is gonna post something watch Man, can't you just lay off?
Quincy Posted March 17, 2005 Report Posted March 17, 2005 Certainly it's bad form to threaten to kill the host, and yeah, he did some inappropriate stuff at times, but I'll miss the guy. I don't think I've ever quite run across anyone who expresses himself in such a unique way, and I've never quite figured him out either. Naked chick singers in one post, and knowing the finer details of some artist in another (or wanting to know more.) And as a few others have mentioned in this thread and others, I also feel he's been poked with a sharp stick a few times in the past week or so. I hope he gets a chance to make amends with Jim and at some point gets to come back.
marcoliv Posted March 17, 2005 Report Posted March 17, 2005 maybe ss1 should delete aric's words from his signature too just my 2 cents...
connoisseur series500 Posted March 17, 2005 Report Posted March 17, 2005 The reason I ask is I'm seriously thinking about a breaking a piece of my foot off in Conn500's ass and stealing all the discs that he doesn't listen too (which is nearly 75% of his entire collection), but I want to know how far I can take it!?!? A lot of funny stuff today, but this one had me rolling on the floor with laughter!
Soulstation1 Posted March 17, 2005 Report Posted March 17, 2005 jesus christ i don't like flashlights/strobe lights .... but i deal with it
Chuck Nessa Posted March 17, 2005 Report Posted March 17, 2005 jesus christ i don't like flashlights/strobe lights .... but i deal with it Get over it. You won. At least be a gracious winner. Time to let the thread die.
.:.impossible Posted March 17, 2005 Report Posted March 17, 2005 I guess I missed a lot. I've always had signatures turned off. SS1, I think its time you chill out. You got your man. Great job. Leave it alone.
AfricaBrass Posted March 17, 2005 Report Posted March 17, 2005 iamsorry is using the pm system If that is Aric; I give him a LOT OF CREDIT for creating THAT user name and possibly apologizing to Jim.
connoisseur series500 Posted March 17, 2005 Report Posted March 17, 2005 I won't miss the idiot. I also never found him funny. DEEP (who is the leader of the BANNED HALL OF FAME) was much funnier. I even preferred GregM. I say good riddance! Good move, Jim! (Now if we could only do something about Couw and Moose and Catesta!)
JSngry Posted March 17, 2005 Report Posted March 17, 2005 (edited) I dig Aric & SS1 both. Aric was a stupid fuck to issue death threats, no matter how "unserious" they might have been. In today's cyberage, you just don't do shit like that and expose yourself and the board's ownership to even potential liability if something funky but unrelated should go down somewhere, which is always a possibility. So Aric, wise up, stay wack, but plese grow the fuck up. Just a little. And settle your deal w/Jeff once and for all, somehow, so all this tiredass shit can be done with once and for all. Jeff, you've won this round, and had some time to gloat. Good. You've had a legit beef w/AE for a good while now, but, really, enough is enough. You got enough going on elsewise to let it the fuck go now, ok? Greezy hands mean being able to hold on only to that which is essential, and getting screwed on a deal a few years ago hardly qualifies if your life is moving even slightly forward, which it seems to be. The really badass gangstas are the ones you don't never hear about, dig? The others are either posers or moving targets. I will now tell myself to fuck off, and then proceed to do exactly that. Sundog Posted March 17, 2005 Report Posted March 17, 2005 Bro', have some real soul. Delete your signature.
connoisseur series500 Posted March 17, 2005 Report Posted March 17, 2005 One unfortunate result of Aric's banning is that I didn't get the chance to offer my Jackie Mac TOCJ for his "Money Jungle."
TheMusicalMarine Posted March 17, 2005 Report Posted March 17, 2005 One thing's for certain. Whether win or lose, we all like jazz, and that, friends dear, makes us all winners
Soul Stream Posted March 17, 2005 Report Posted March 17, 2005 (edited) Not to take sides here, I don't really care either way. Aric's had a long history of being banned way back to the ol' BNBB. It's basically an inevitability that comes along with his modus operandi. I think he operates on that level and accepts the consequences. He seems comfortable with that and always has. He's probably surprised he's lasted as long as he has this time around. Sometimes it's confusing, is Aric a bully or a comedian? Guess it depends on where you're standing in the schoolyard. So my point is this..., today it was SS1, but it would have been somebody at some point. Just something to keep in mind before we dogpile on SS1. Edited March 17, 2005 by Soul Stream
