robviti Posted December 31, 2006 Report Posted December 31, 2006 i like to separate sex appeal from sax appeal. my vote goes to claire daly, a helluva bari player. i spent some time with her at a gig at cleopatra's needle. she's charming, funny, and very appreciative of her fans. so yeah, i guess i find her attractive too. flat5 Posted December 31, 2006 Report Posted December 31, 2006 There are a few more here in Holland. I'm not going to the trouble of listing them. I leave that to someone else. Quote

clifford_thornton Posted January 2, 2007 Report Posted January 2, 2007 (edited) I voted for Candi/Candy only because of her dad, Hans Dulfer. Despite the dubiousness of some of Hans's recent projects, his work from the '60s and '70s is unequivocally great. His record Candy Clouds, from 1970, is a stunning session of free-afro-latin-psych that has little in common with ANYTHING else going on in the jazz world at the time, Dutch or otherwise. Ditto El Saxofon, The Morning After The Third, his Heavy Soul Music imprint, and his work with Theo Loevendie. I don't know about "sexiness," but I agree that Virginia Mayhew can play; my understanding of Candy is that she's a *smooth* player, though one with at least good blowing genes. Laura MacDonald Laura's a very fine talent indeed. I love her playing, it's become instantly recognisable , good ideas, great tune smith and an all round nice person. Quote
danasgoodstuff Posted January 5, 2007 Report Posted January 5, 2007 Nice thread, but since a saxophone, any saxophone, is basically a bitch, what's that make the babes playin' 'em? Quote
sidewinder Posted January 5, 2007 Report Posted January 5, 2007 Ingrid Laubrock gets my vote. Great player too ! Quote

chris olivarez Posted January 6, 2007 Report Posted January 6, 2007 Candi Dulfer did a good job on Van Morrison's "A Night In San Francisco". Quote
clifford_thornton Posted January 6, 2007 Report Posted January 6, 2007 Am I the only one here who would rather talk about her dad? Quote
RDK Posted January 6, 2007 Report Posted January 6, 2007 This would be the perfect thread for Saxophone Vagina to make his return to the boards... Quote
