mgraham333 Posted February 8, 2007 Author Report Posted February 8, 2007 The Spoiler, Lush Life, and You Gotta Take a Little Love were all new to me. It's interesting to hear Lou in a post-bop, pre-grease mode. It's very laid-back, but still enjoyable. Quote
jazzbo Posted February 10, 2007 Report Posted February 10, 2007 Listening to "The Right Touch" right now. I think it sounds AWESOME. Quote
Head Man Posted February 10, 2007 Report Posted February 10, 2007 Anyone know when these are due to be available in the UK? Quote
Late Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 What do you guys think of the Silver? I was pleasantly surprised. Not an abundance of "fire," but certainly not sedate either. Quote

I'm digging the Silver big time. "It's Time" may just be one of my favorite Silver tunes on record. It's surprising (and a little disappointing) that people aren't as familiar with Horace's material after 1965 or so. Quote
Soul Stream Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 Yeah, I love the Silver. Maupin is a big smile for me on that one. He's just right on it. Also Billy Cobham is great on this as well. Quote
JSngry Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 "You Gotta Take A Little Love" used to be a staple on Bob Stewart's various radio programs. Found the LP back in the day and have always enjoyed it, even if the players sometimes sound like they might be having other ideas about what they'd do if it wasn't Horace's gig... Quote

sal Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 What do you guys think of the Silver? I was pleasantly surprised. Not an abundance of "fire," but certainly not sedate either. Its fine. I guess my expectatons were a bit too high given the lineup and the point in time in which it was recorded. A bit tame, but defintely not a bad session. I just can't see myself reaching for this one very often in the future. Quote
mikeweil Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 I have always loved this as much as the other Silver Blue Notes and always wondered when they would finally reissue it. Not the best of all, but still good, and lively. Quote
