Have to say I am glad they are not using the original LT covers. To me they have an ECM feel that is incongruous with the music (not that there's anything wrong with ECM covers, many are beautiful, but this type of feel just doesn't fit the music BN was recording IMHO).

Opinions are never wrong!

In addition to my dislike of the LT covers, I think they saved on sound quality as well: all of the Connoisseur or other reissues of LT albums I have sound better than the LPs. So I don't miss them at all.

Let's welcome the music and take the cover as it is.

As far as "Heaven On Earth" is concerned: Isn't that Larry's wife Althea on the cover? Then I'd understand ... Her vocals are harder to endure ...

I have seena few (none that I remember wanting to pick up) but those covers always reminded me of those cheapo looking A& M style Chuck Mangione records that my mom used to buy when I was a tyke. "Chase the Clouds Away" it was a picutre of a rooftop and Chuck is there rising out of thin air blowing his flugel. Then I saw some similar looking Wes Montgomery covers and I thought...Jeez!!! Those covers always put me off the music!

I'd choose the new cover anyday, but I haven't yet heard the music... it does look like a Miles design. Definitely see a resemblance between this and the Delightfulee cover.

I would have thought they'd have gone for something a little more "Mothership," but I won't complain.

I think both are killer photographs of Larry.

:P I've always been told that Jimmy Smith had an imaginary accordian that he would carry around and play for the photographers when the mood arose.

98% of the time I'll take an artist photo on the cover. I find the happy/laughing photo of LY entirely compatible with the music on the disc. "More adventurous" music is in no way somber.

As a BN "student" since the '50s, I think the cover is a dandy.

I don't dislike the LT covers, but they were a product of the time.
