jostber
Just noticed this new reissue. How is this album? http://www.dustygroove.com/item.php?id=64n...p;ref=index.php
jazzbo
I like it. I think you will too.

felser
It's just fine! Typical Blue Note session of the period (mid-late 50's), no more, no less. What's not to like? To me, Jordan didn't really find his voice until his time with Mingus in the 60's.
Dan Gould
Back when I was still Mogie Man, this is one I was on the lookout for and I recall being somewhat disappointed overall. I'd have to say its a below-average BN of the period. YMMV.
Peter Friedman
This one grew on me. The first time I heard it I considered it just ok. After some time passed I went back and listened to it again a few times and began to like it very much. Ray Bryant's piano playing adds a lot to the session. Clunky
Well I've always loved this session, better than Morgan's dates from a similar time.
colinmce
Can anyone explain why several BN titles that aren't on CD are readily available on these LP re-issues?
sjarrell
Can anyone explain why several BN titles that aren't on CD are readily available on these LP re-issues? Is it a Scorpio? Because I know they have a contract to produce x-number gf BN titles of their choice.
Chuck Nessa
Can anyone explain why several BN titles that aren't on CD are readily available on these LP re-issues? From a marketing standpoint, that's the way to go.
colinmce
True enough. I'm not complaining!
king ubu
So this is actually a Blue Note vinyl reissue? Not some silly audiophile 450g vinyl crap stuff or an Italian rip-off? Might then be an option to finally "legally" own this one! I think it's "just fine" as well...

Peter Friedman
Can anyone explain why several BN titles that aren't on CD are readily available on these LP re-issues? This Clifford Jordan date was issued on CD in Japan. I have a copy. Don't know if it currently available.
BruceH
I'd have to say it struck me as a trifle below-average when I first heard it, especially considering the lineup. But with repeated listenings it began to grow on me somewhat. But MOST things start to grow on you after a while....
AndrewHill
Another date with Jordan and Morgan that I really enjoy is "Baltimore '68" on Fresh Sound, but it seems to be OOP and its going for an absurd $155 at the Amazon marketplace. If you can find a copy at a sane price I'd say get it. It has Ed Blackwell on it too. Edited October 8, 2009 by Holy Ghost

fasstrack
One of my favourite Lee Morgan/Clifford Jordan sessions: Yes. Very nice. A lot of stretching out by everyone. I forget the tunes.
colinmce
Another question, then. Anyone know who presses LP reissues of those early 80s unreleased BN sessions (the ones with the plain white cover and random image)? Scorpio? I have seen copies of titles like Vertigo, Africaine and Mothership stocked (& re-stocked) at a local shop. I'd like to know what other titles are available. Free For All
I really like this cover- it was designed by Tom Hannan. Did he do other BN covers? I discovered I didn't have this and ordered it from DG. It showed up today along with another one I didn't have: (note the mispelling of Frank Rehak's name, and hardly a complementary variation at that)
B. Clugston
One of my favourite Lee Morgan/Clifford Jordan sessions: Yes. Very nice. A lot of stretching out by everyone. I forget the tunes. Includes a nice version of "Straight, No Chaser" and a cover of a Mobley tune called here "The Vamp" but actually something else. I forget the others.
