My 2ยข: I like this Crosby box and I will probably get it also. Crosby is very underrated in terms of jazz signing and I think this set will surprise a lot of people in terms of artistic quality.

I was hoping they'd do a Croz set! All I've seen of him is "16 most requested" type collections or Xmas sets. I would have thought Mosaic would have covered his earlier, more jazzy years...since I thought he was almost totally pop by the 50s. So this is all new to me! 7 discs of trio may be a bit tedious...but I don't think I've ever heard him in this setting...so I'm excited. What if it's really good?!?!!!

Now bring on some Al Jolson and Eddie Cantor! Actually, I've got a nice 2 disc Jolson/Croz set of radio shows. Nice stuff. Nostalgic, but I do enjoy the legends!

Regarding the Sinatra New York set...I was kind of disappointed in the number of late-period shows. The Vegas box was good, but this really feels like just a vol 2 of that -- to me anyway. Not super excited about it -- I'm way more interested in a Mosaic Crosby, personally. Though, if I find a decent sale...I'll snag it. Sinatra was the best!!

Revisited some Bing this morning, mainly with Whiteman. Had a good time.

This image was in an email from Mosaic this morning, probably will be the cover shot (if not, it would make a good one)

32 bit!

I noticed that too, but I find it far more interesting who mastered it, in this case Malcolm Addey. The mastering is more important than the format (16-bit, 20-bit, 24-bit, 32-bit, DSD or whatever) that was used; if someone screws up the mastering, no format will compensate for that.

Yes, you've said that before. :)

And I'll keep saying it as long as people say otherwise - not that you did say otherwise :)

I agree for the most part. Glad to see Addey is doing this set. His work is always welcome.

I agree, his work is usually good to excellent.

I agree but 7 Cds of Bing is a LOT of Bing....

Samples are much better than I expected!

But at least with Mosaic you get a lot of Bing for your buck.

I admit I'm starting to wobble on this set. The samples do sound awfully good. I'm a sucker for the pairing of piano and rhythm guitar. However, don't overlook the fact that only 13 of the 160 tracks (8% or the total) include horns while two of the five samples (40%) have horns. Point being, the samples are a somewhat misrepresentative of the overall composition of the collection. On the upside, there are 160 separate and distinct titles, no duplicates.

Up over and out.

Have the ever released a set before with the 20,000 copy license??? I'm thinking no...

20,000 copies. Obviously expected to be a BIG seller. :tup

Sounds like Mosaic is betting the house !!

Hey Ron.. You getting Bing??

I'm more interested than before.. but I'm waiting for you to jump in first...

20,000 copies. Obviously expected to be a BIG seller. :tup

Actually, now that Cindy's gone, I probably won't be buying any more Mosaics--it just wouldn't be the same. :(

But in reality, I'll probably get it eventually. :w
