I immediately thought of Lee Morgan. He always wore his pants that way - apparently it was the fashion.

When I was a kid, people used to call this style of pants "Hochwasser" - high tide ....  :g

Or "high-waters" - that's the term I heard most often.

"Half mast" is what I say.

I remember you had home-grown varieties, Brownie, les blousons noirs and les yé-yés:
