.,..........you know what..... Midnight Cowboy / Popi !!!!!!!

A side= beautiful, wow. lee's 1 shining moment in the pop spotlight. really, its breathtaking-- maybe this song was overplayed in the 60s....but not for me, ive never really heard it much, maybe once in the movie i saw one time i cant even remember, but thats it- so to me, its new and fresh

B side= tj brassesque, on sleeping pills? i have no clue. (also from a movie).

to me it appears like maybe the session was done more 'on the fly'- even the LABEL PRINTING, doesnt fit in w/ titles before or after it. Why A&M studios? ill check the discog again but i think it was rvg before and after for lee, for a really long time-- also whats with toots on this? has anyone ever asked him abt this? is this toots's only bluenote date?!

once again, midnight cowboy is BEAUTIFUL. god i wish lee morgan had like 32 more albums

dude but that argument could be made about anything in organissimo. i have a record of the 1984 padres baseball championships, but wouldnt that be more appropriate to but in Misc- Non Music than the "vinyl forum"? i post in vinyl forum too, like "great finds on vinyl" and things of the such. but frankly artists is a primary forum on organissimo, and im more concerned with the ARTIST (lee morgan) and why he recorded that day at A&M than the vinyl in and of itself, so i posted in artists, where it will get more views and input, please dont me mad at me, i love you Sonnymax!

Lee Morgan does not play on 'Popi'.

I bought his version of 'Cowboy' on iTunes since I am a Lee completist, but honestly Ben Allison's version is far better.

There are three trumpet/flugelhorn players on this session

Lee Morgan, Burt Collins, Joe Shepley

Some discographies list LM as playing on Popi (Blue Note, Lord, Masayana Matsumura) while the Jazz Discography Project omits him from this track

I presume it's only ever been released as the b side of the single?

Even listening to the title to discern LM may be tricky due to the number of trumpet players present

Dude, the overwhelming majority of the threads you start are about vinyl, especially topics like "you won't believe what LP I found!" and "I found this LP, does anyone know about [insert question about other vinyl releases]?" Chewy, you've made it known that you treasure vinyl, and that currently you're collecting vinyl much more than any other media. Although you may occasionally post in the vinyl forum, you always start your vinyl threads in the artists forum. There's one exception to this rule, and that's your Wes Montgomery thread. That's in the vinyl forum because a moderator moved it there. I've got nothing against you or your vinyl-oriented discussions. You've admitted that the reason you post in the artists forum where it will get more views and input. Everybody wants their topic to get attention and develop into a meaningful discussion. What do you think would happen if we all did this?

Chewy, I'm really only asking that you start a conversation where it's most appropriate. It's not that difficult. The rest of us do it. Sure there will be exceptions, and there's nothing wrong with that. Just try it for a while. You'll probably make the vinyl forum a more popular place to hang out as a result.

Since the article itself is a vinyl issue but the commentary is focused on the music itself, I believe that this one is rightly palced.

Not all of them are, necessarily, but this one is.
