GA Russell Posted August 19, 2012 Report Posted August 19, 2012 I have picked up the free $3.00 Amazon Local voucher for mp3 albums costing $5.99 or more which sonnymax posted about yesterday. It so happens that I have another $1.00 credit from a purchase I made recently, so that means that I have $4.00 in credits to buy a $5.99 album. I have listed ten albums which look like they might be worth $1.99, so I thought I would ask your opinion. Tell me which one I should get! I don't see how I can close the poll ahead of time, but I intend to make my purchase August 31. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted August 19, 2012 Report Posted August 19, 2012 Buy 3 songs - one by the Ramones, one by Zappa and one by Dylan and bask in our cultural past. Quote
clifford_thornton Posted August 19, 2012 Report Posted August 19, 2012 That particular Clarke-Boland LP is one of my favorites. I've got quite a bit of their work, and others might disagree with me (the Ronnie Scott's sessions, the Atlantics, and Faces also slay), but I come back to Off Limits a lot. Quote
Justin V Posted August 20, 2012 Report Posted August 20, 2012 (edited) For something completely different (and only 24 cents more), you could get the album that I purchased: From your listed choices, I'd go with the Tommy Flanagan album, which appears to be an expanded version of Tommy Flanagan's Overseas. I do like Pharaoh Sanders' Thembi, but when I'm in the mood for an album in that vein, I tend to go for Michael White's The Land of Spirit and Light Edited August 20, 2012 by Justin V Quote
Teasing the Korean Posted August 20, 2012 Report Posted August 20, 2012 None of the above. Apply it to Milt Raskin's "Kapu." Quote
mjzee Posted August 20, 2012 Report Posted August 20, 2012 I always liked "We Want Miles" - the last flicker of genius before his tedious '80's. Quote

Ah - Overseas is a really fine album. Didn't recognize the title and assumed it was a snoozier 80s Galaxy joint or something. Quote
GA Russell Posted August 20, 2012 Author Report Posted August 20, 2012 Thanks for your input so far! I see that we have 84 views, but only 5 votes. I hope that people are weighing their options before voting! Quote
Matthew Posted August 20, 2012 Report Posted August 20, 2012 Two cds of Mark Murphy is about right.... Quote
sidewinder Posted August 20, 2012 Report Posted August 20, 2012 (edited) One more vote for the Clarke/Boland. A good one ! Edited August 20, 2012 by sidewinder Quote
JSngry Posted August 20, 2012 Report Posted August 20, 2012 I put in for Gerald Wilson, because Gerald Wilson will give you some lasting musical engagement. Quote
GA Russell Posted August 31, 2012 Author Report Posted August 31, 2012 Last call for alcohol! Clarke/Boland is leading, and that's what I'll get unless the group has other ideas. Quote
GA Russell Posted September 2, 2012 Author Report Posted September 2, 2012 Clarke-Boland wins with 5 votes to Gerald Wilson's 3, so that's what I have picked up. Thanks everyone for your suggestions! Quote
