JSngry Posted July 9, 2013 Report Posted July 9, 2013 That article contains more more jaw-droppingly awesome death-wish-inducing/reinforcing bullshit than a Twinkie itself. And I've no doubt that it's all 100% true, at least in the sense that it was all actually said by who it says said it. But whereas before, Twinkies were just insane, now they are truly insane. Love it! Quote
T.D. Posted July 9, 2013 Report Posted July 9, 2013 Heard the item on radio this morning and was surprised. I had assumed the shelf life was much more than 45 days! Good luck to anyone who eats that stuff... Quote
BruceH Posted July 9, 2013 Report Posted July 9, 2013 I thought their shelf life was more like the half life of Uranium. How disappointing. Quote
Jazzmoose Posted July 9, 2013 Report Posted July 9, 2013 I thought their shelf life was more like the half life of Uranium. That's what I thought. But then, since we now have expiration dates on water, who knows... Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted July 10, 2013 Report Posted July 10, 2013 The new union busting techniques. Go bankrupt and fire all unionized workers and their pensions go bye bye. Twinkles suck. Quote
ejp626 Posted July 10, 2013 Report Posted July 10, 2013 The new union busting techniques. Go bankrupt and fire all unionized workers and their pensions go bye bye.Twinkles suck.Or you can blame the union for not being willing to bend on some very unreasonable work rules (if I recall, the union in charge of deliveries wouldn't allow bread and more cake-like products such as Twinkies to be delivered in the same truck). Most of the unions were willing to negotiate. One wasn't and thought that management was bluffing...These times suck, no question about it, but not recognizing that and being a bit more flexible is simply a recipe to lose everything. Quote
Dan Gould Posted July 10, 2013 Report Posted July 10, 2013 Nice to see someone on the left with a clear-eyed view of why Hostess declared bankruptcy and who (that one union) and what (protecting ridiculous job rules) was to blame. The only thing missing, iirc, is that the leadership negotiated an agreement. Rank and file rejected it, and caused everybody to lose their jobs. If they weren't irredeemable crap, I'd go buy a package of Twinkies now that they are coming back. Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted July 10, 2013 Report Posted July 10, 2013 Bullshit. The blame the union stuff is a smoke-screen.http://thinkprogress.org/economy/2012/11/16/1203151/why-unions-dont-shoulder-the-blame-for-hostesss-downfall/ http://www.examiner.com/article/the-real-reasons-hostess-went-bankrupt http://www.forbes.com/sites/helaineolen/2012/11/16/who-killed-hostess-brands-and-twinkies/ Quote
