This dude to me is a mystery in the 70's. Like Woody Shaw, lays down these stupendous sides, then just situates in the bowls of business, paycheck signed, then what? Quote
JSngry Posted Monday at 08:01 PM Report Posted Monday at 08:01 PM Then a few people buy the records, many don't. The time passes and more people say, hey, what's the deal with this guy, and they find something, want more, and the reissues either do or do not happen. Moral of the story is - pay attention in real time if at all possible (if you're so inclined), and if not, buy the reissues as they arrive. Either way, carpe diem. Oh, DOGON AD also made it out on Artista/Freedom. Quote

Oh, DOGON AD also made it out on Artista/Freedom. I’ve always liked this cover best and was happy when International Phonographic used it. It’s on my wall, what a beauty. Makes me think some how of Demons Dance by Jacky McLean. Quote
Late Posted 13 hours ago Author Report Posted 13 hours ago I wish Jonathan (Horwich) could've kept International Phonograph going, but I'm very grateful for all the reissues he did gift to the listening community. The 2-disc Joe Daley set was going to be something else. Quote
clifford_thornton Posted 13 hours ago Report Posted 13 hours ago +1 I prefer the original Dogon A.D. cover myself, though I recall Horwich saying Hemphill also preferred the Arista-Freedom design. Quote

Yes, Horwich told me the same thing. I still like the original cover better, but I guess it's good to now have both. Quote
