Shawn
One of my favorite character actors has passed away, another artist taken too soon. Rickman was the type of actor who could elevate any material you put him in. By sheer personality he took an underwritten villain role in Die Hard (his first major feature) and made it one of the most memorable in screen history. I'm really saddened by his loss. He was 69. http://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-35313604
paul secor
Never saw Die Hard . First saw him in Truly, Madly, Deeply. He was always a pleasure to watch, whether on the big screen or occasionally on TV. Thanks, Mr. Rickman.
Kevin Bresnahan
He was one of those actors that made every character he played memorable... like Hans in "Die Hard", Professor Snape in the Harry Potter movies, Alexander Dane (Dr. Lazarus) in "Galaxy Quest" and Elliot Marston, the evil ranch owner in "Quigley Down Under". When you think back to these movies, Rickman's characters are often one of the first ones you think of.
sidewinder
Much bigger name in the theatre over here than films, until more recent times. For sure, one of those people that it was good to see, who was his own person and who will be missed. RIP
Hardbopjazz
Wow. RIP. He was fine actor.
gmonahan
For me, Rickman in any movie meant there would always be someone really interesting to watch. And to listen to. He had a wonderful, wonderful voice. Very saddened at this loss. gregmo
ejp626
RIP Lousy, lousy, lousy week. I'm hoping to dig out Galaxy Quest (I should have a copy somewhere) and play it over the weekend.

Kevin Bresnahan
In reading all of the tributes to this great actor, one of the things that struck me was that he didn't start acting in film until he was in his 40's. That's pretty incredible. All of these great movies were all made in a 26 year span after decades in theater.
JSngry
I confused this name with Alan Rachins, the guy who played Douglas Brackman on LA Law...turned it into "Alan Brackman" and then into "Alan Rickman"...one of those totally logical but totally incorrect brain farts about names that occur when you know a bunch of names but not that much about the people who have them. Anyway, RIP Alan Rickman, whose death will not be the determining factor in a possible LA Law reunion show, silver lining and all that, come back Susan Dey! Kevin Bresnahan
I just saw a facebook post referencing Rickman's performance in "Bottle Shock". I completely forgot about that one. I guess when I said that, "Rickman's characters are often one of the first ones you think of", I wasn't thinking about this movie.
Larry Kart
From Paul Krugman's blog, his favorite Rickman line, from "Bottle Shock": "[Y]ou think I’m an arsehole. And I’m not, really. I’m just British."
Soulstation1
He was a badass in Die Hard I
