Then for something completely different:

Disc 2 of 2, which contains the episodes "Wings Over Dagenham" and "The Rent Collectors", the latter, coincidentally, was first broadcast on Jan, 17, 1957 (and includes one of my favorite jokes:  "This is ridiculous!  You can't hang me!"  "He's right you know -- he hasn't got a neck!")

A major influence - when I was about 14 - three years before jazz took over. :D

Wonderful series of recordings.

I have many (or all) of those Charlie Johnson's on Frog Records, and they are indeed wonderful. Another musician I feel that should listen to more often. Sometimes it seems as if there are too many such musicians, but that's a good thing in its own way.

This is an interesting record. But it´s quite unusual for the choice of "Sentimental Journey" as the first tune. And "When I fall in love" as a medium tempo and not ballad. There´s a whole bunch of McLean´s recordings for Prestige from that period. Later I heard Jackie McLean was not really happy with that deal. But now they are classics.
