I'll second the recommendation for Handy's Roulettes.  I'm actually re-airing a Night Lights show about him next week for his 85th birthday that covers this period in part.  Handy himself was evidently not all that happy with how they turned out (quotes at end of this post and the beginning of this post).

Thanks for posting the links to the interview, David - interesting and fascinating.

I recently got this through a third party seller frem amazon, and I really like it, specially the first session with Charlie Christian (playing unamplified here) and Meade Lux Lewis on celeste. It's a drumless session.

Wonderful session - I have most, if not all, on BN 78s.

Johnny Griffin "Blues for Harvey" . That´s a Steeplechase album from 1973 live at Montmatre. Really a cooker. With Kenny Drew, Mads Vinding and Ed Thigpen.

Great music - and one of the best ever Steeplechase cover pictures ....

William Parker Trio: Painter's Spring (Thirsty Ear)

Second Misterioso on this one—just listened to it recently myself.

Listening to this makes me feel that it’s really time to get around to picking up those three 3-CD Red Nichols sets:61l0o4WQe%2BL._SY355_.jpg

"Take a Stroll Through Your Mind" on this.  Norman Whitfield had an amazing thing going on there ca. 1968-1973 with the Temps and the Undisputed Truth ("Smiling Faces Sometimes", etc.).
