Misterioso Posted May 6, 2018 Report Posted May 6, 2018 I completely forgot about the CD that came with Isoardi's "The Dark Tree" until it was mentioned here yesterday. Ripped it today and listen to it for the first time in about 10 years. Quote

Brad Posted May 6, 2018 Report Posted May 6, 2018 As today is rainy, this seemed to be a fitting disc. Quote

They're all broadly in the "Spiritual Jazz" (a phrase I'm never entirely comfortable with but it acts as useful shorthand) sub-genre. There's one with the Lifeforce Trio which has a more modern (ten years ago) approach to rhythm and beats I was lucky enough to see him perform at Ronnie Scotts last year where he exceeded my long-held, and probably even unreasonably high, expectations. In person, his voice is a thing of wonder, very powerful Edited May 6, 2018 by mjazzg Quote
Larry Kart Posted May 6, 2018 Report Posted May 6, 2018 Just picked this up. Sounded damn good in the car. Fine rhythm section -- (Kenny Washington, Peter Washington, Richard Wyands, who just sparkles), RVG sound, and Person and Edwards are in excellent form. Quote
