That is a good one.  With Jones, Blythe, Maceo, Smith, Lonnie Plaxico and Idris Muhammad, it is as funky as one would expect.

To my dismay, the internet informs that in 2008, a few years before I learned about this artist, Mahmoud  Ahmed actually played a concert in Dallas (which has a significant population of Ethiopians) and  just a couple of miles from where I live. Ignorance is not bliss.

I've read that Sonny Rollins didn't like the nickname "Newk". I wonder how Blue Note slipped this by on him?
