felser Posted March 25, 2019 Report Posted March 25, 2019 HutchFan, best wishes for a speedy recovery! Here's what I spent my evening watching/listening to (2CD/DVD set - highly recommended): Quote
duaneiac Posted March 25, 2019 Report Posted March 25, 2019 Disc 1 of 2. Back in the day when this cast album (and show) was new, this was my first broad exposure to the music of Fats Waller. Did you know Arvell Shaw was the bassist in the band for this show? Quote

Peter Friedman Posted March 25, 2019 Report Posted March 25, 2019 One of my very favorite Clifford Jordan recordings. Quote
duaneiac Posted March 25, 2019 Report Posted March 25, 2019 While I'm glad I finally heard this album via YouTube, I'm also kinda glad I did not buy it because there is very little chance I'd ever listen to it again. Granted the "Theme From Mannix" was fun (and the above video is cued up to that track if any one would care to check it out) -- nothing wrong with funky cheese or cheesy funk! -- but hearing it once was enough.
