HutchFan Posted February 19, 2021 Report Posted February 19, 2021 Claudio Fasoli, Kenny Wheeler, J.-F. Jenny Clark, Daniel Humair - Welcome (Soul Note) Kenny Wheeler's sound fills up so much space -- in a good way -- that this quartet comes off sounding like a huge ensemble. Quote

A great writer too. I miss seeing him play which I was lucky enough to do on many occasions in many different line-ups. Not that one though. Quote

Speaking of... The only time I saw Kenny was in his early days in the UK with fellow Canadian Art Ellefson in a small group drawn from the Dankworth orchestra led by Eddie Harvey. The date was about 1962 and the venue a club in Leeds. Quote

Rabshakeh Posted February 20, 2021 Report Posted February 20, 2021 Atomic / School Days - Nuclear Assembly Hall (Okla, 2004) Nice to reconnect with this one. It has aged well. Not dissimilar to Chicago Octet/Tentent in style, but more easily digestible. Quote
