Now: This is one of the most enjoyable recordings I have heard this year. Nothing earth-shattering or ground breaking, but just really good listening. I bought it when it was released but looking at the line up with hindsight it does look a bit of an odd collection of players. Edited July 4, 2022 by mjazzg Quote

Most "jazzy" trio is however for me ---> Peterson - Brown - Ellis and the earlier versions with Barney Kessell at JATP. ;-]] 8 hours ago, John Tapscott said: The late Bob Florence had a good cooperation with the german radio "Hessischer Rundfunk" in Frankfurt. Many years ago I did record some studio broadcast with Bob & some HR bigband recordings. I was in touch with Bob via email and had tried to get him a gig at the WDR . But the "big heads" there were not interested at that time. Really a loss which cannot be repaired. Quote

Rabshakeh Posted July 5, 2022 Report Posted July 5, 2022 Herbie Hancock – The Piano (Columbia, 1979) I have been exploring Hancock's acoustic releases from the 70s and 80s recently. Not a great deal there of the old Hancock, or the new Hancock. A strong sense of someone relearning from the basics, rather than returning from a place of growth. Quote
