Rufus Reid is very fine and of course we heard him on dozens occasions with Dex.... The only thing is on studio records the drums are not as well heard, I can listen to them only with headphonse to get a glimpse of the ride cymbal....., I like it ringing really strong ! Quote

Bohor, from the Nonesuch LP, is in my top 3 of favorite works of all time, but the late 90s release thru EMF flattened the sound and shaved off the final seconds. The version on this recording brings back its immensity of sound. Interesting, I went to a discovery day of Xenakis works (and some terrific biographical film) performed by the London Sinfonietta several years ago and was bowled over by a lot of the music but for some reason never followed it up with any extensive listening. Since then he's always been a name that intrigues. Maybe I could start again with this Quote

Kevin Bresnahan Posted September 7, 2024 Report Posted September 7, 2024 My friend Jason Rubin recommended this blues CD containing music during the last two weeks of the 1369 Jazz Club in Cambridge, MA in 1988.
